Yesterday was absolutely a beautiful day! 70* light wind, just right for burning some meadow, a large brush pile, and working on the new pea run, 32 x 50 foot. Even got some clean-up done disassembling an old hay shed that bit the dust, literally... @OkieQueenBee is a hard worker! and she takes good pictures too.

The boys were digging the weather, here are just a few of them.













And the girls were impressed.









And today, plenty of sunshine headed my way, my oh my what a beautiful day.

Wow! Really great pictures. I wish I had a camera that worked well again. I guess I'm just too cheap to fork out the $$$ for a new one. It would cost more to repair my camera than a new one would cost. It is stuck on a 2 second delay and won't reset. I've tried every thing.
It is noisy around here right now. The peas are all calling back and forth. I even saw the white boy trying to mate one of the hens yesterday but she wasn't going to accept it yet. I need to find some time this week to get the nests cleaned up and get a load of straw and for nesting in and put in place.
I am probably going to have to start another incubator. I am getting quite a collection of goose eggs and nearly have the hatching tray full. Of course I don't know how many aren't viable thank to the cold weather.

Beautiful birds! Sometime I'd love to visit and see them in person. I'm very thankful for the sunshine and warm weather too. My little guys thought it was plenty cold last night and we ended up putting a heat lamp on them. I was rather nervous about it but everything was ok this morning except one of them was shivering. DH moved the lamp a little closer for a couple hours until it warmed up. They appear to be doing well so far.

Prairie congrats on the new babies, they're adorable! Baby animals just are so hard to not like, they're just cuteness multiplied. My baby lamb is growing like a weed & he's drinking his bottles like a pig. I sure hope I can get him outside soon but the other ewe in the pen isn't having any of it so far.

Anderson, welcome & good luck with your babies. As someone said the Cornish Cross are meat birds so be prepared to butcher those before too long because they get so fat they have leg problems & aren't meant to live a long time like the other layers. Feel free to ask questions here, we have lots of knowledge between us all.

KsKingBee, those peas are beautiful! It makes me want mine back but alas I have no pen space for them. That's OK I'll just enjoy the pics of yours.

I candled the Sebbie goose eggs I have in the incubator last night, I hadn't had a chance to do that. 6 of the 7 are developing, yay! I'm so excited because I have not hatched geese before. I've hatched most everything else but that. My ducks are cranking out the eggs now so I will start incubating some of those soon as well. I went out yesterday & took off some of the tarps so the birds can get more light & maybe that will spur the rest to start laying, crossing my fingers. I need to start incubating for orders.

Hi everyone. Time has been getting away from me. It is chicken hunting time. I have found some local Maran eggs to hatch. But still looking for some Blue or Wheaten Ameraucana eggs.

I was working on my daughters bantam coop this weekend. I am looking for some quality bantam birds for 4H. We are looking at the Cochins or d’Uccles chicks or eggs. If anyone knows of a bantam breeder or purebred Ameraucanas around NE Kansas. Please let me know.

Busy day today. I had so much to do. I did my normal feeding and watering which takes about all the energy I have any way. Then I pumped out the Mandarin pond and cleaned it out and refilled it. Major job for sure. Then I have four bins of chicks I'm brooding inside right now and cleaned all those out and put in new bedding. I was really hoping to have them moved to the building before I had to clean them again but no time to work on that on top of every thing else.
Maybe tomorrow I'll find some extra time somewhere. It just seems every day is crazy.
I've got some interesting chicks from my test hatches from the orpington pen before I separated colors. I sure hope there's some girls in that mix. I could use some more layers. Something unusual colored would be awesome. I like a little eye candy in the yard. One I have almost looks like a chocolate partridge so far which is entirely possible.

Congrats on your first chicks. Feel free to update with us and ask any questions you might have. I was trying to look at your bantams more closely to see what they were. Do they have feathered feet?

Both have feathered feet. Im not the greatest at pictures but i tried.
