Soliciting thoughts: best bedding for the brooder.
I'm thinking ahead to mid-April when the chicks come home from school. Our first ever batch brooded in the sun porch in a kiddy pool but this batch could be as many as 40 (if we get a 100% hatch, I'm not holding my breath). They will only be at school for a few days because they can be a bit distracting
So I'll be building a permanent brooder in the storage room off the garage. Insulated, power, and not a bother to my better half.
So what's everyone's thought on bedding? Pine shavings? Sand? Something I haven't considered?
