Consolidated Kansas

Good luck with your goose eggs, Trish. I think my first one is due in 5 days. But it's only one if I remember right. I haven't checked them recently so I am assuming the developing ones are all still a go. My older geese are determined to sit this year. I've never had but one or two be determined before. I decided to let them try it. I have too much to do and not enough incubator space available anyway. I can't wait to have some baby geese again. Those big ole feet just warm your heart. I have no idea where they'll go though. Good grief. It seems I get shorter and shorter on places to raise babies.
If I could sell a few hundred chicks right now I'd be okay.

Does anyone withing a couple hours drive of Lawrence plan to have turken chicks for sale? I have no idea why I'm so taken with them. As my mom used to say, "They're so ugly they're cute." I guess sums it up. So I spend some time researching them and asking questions elsewhere. Several people in places colder than KS said they've been successful. I'd really love to give them a try.

I do have 5 adult Turkens ( one rooster and four hens) that were in a group I obtained recently. I have my incubators full at the present, but I do plan on having some later on. But I am a little east of Parsons, KS.

Ralph, can you give me a ballpark time frame of when? I'd be willing to drive to Parsons if I can't find any closer. I'm just getting anxious to get some chicks and it feels like I've been waiting forever! (Insert visual of small child stomping foot and pitching a fit here.)

Busy day again today. It sure was a lot cooler out there. I even had to put a heavy coat on for awhile when we had a cloud cover and stronger winds. Today was a go to town day which always takes way too much time. I may have found some teenage boys to do some work for me. It would sure be nice if it worked out. Maybe........
The egg supply was way down today. You can sure tell the girls didn't like the cooler cloudy weather.

If you would be interested in the 5 adults, I would post a photo tomorrow. I think they were all last years birds, because the lady I got them from said she did not to do chores in the winter. as it was snowing when I picked them up.

Yes Ralph, I would love to see photos as well. I didn't use to like them at all either but I guess our tastes change sometimes as we are exposed to new things!

Howdy out to members I haven't met before, prayers go to the ones who need them.

We actually had a little drizzle today. Yea moisture! So much colder though! Question, my young pea got on the deck railing and started pecking a hole in the screen! He worried at it til it's now a 4 inch hole! I guess he was upset I didn't feed them til later in the day? I don't know but my sis will flip a gasket! Darned bird!

Ellis Kansas noob here. Trying my hand with chickens. So far I've enjoyed watching the chicks grow and they are feathering out nicely.

We have one Barred Rock, one Rhode Island Red, one Black Sex Link, three unidentified Bantums, and four Americaunas . Wish me luck.
