There was some at the swap meet today!

Giving ducklings or ducks food without water can be a death sentence for them. If they have access to food they must have access to water too.

Guess that makes sense being a water bird! Dually noted

Wanted to report in about my duckies. Whatever was going on last night, with them all, didn't last long and hasn't happened since. I wonder if it was the reaction to suddenly having plenty of water after being somewhat limited at the store. They have their feeder and a jar water fount, and a large custard cup with enough water to get their faces in there and do their thing. They do spread the water around! But the tank they're in right now is large for seven little ones and the wetness is well away from the light so they're not laying on wet shavings. They sure are a crack up to watch. One moment all standing still and and the next they're all racing around the tank. I'll get some pics tomorrow so hopefully someone can shed some light on the breeds.

Sure would have liked to make it to the swap today, but I had things going on. It was a hugely long day as it was. My friend and I are planning to make it to the next one in Overbrook. I'm really trying to curb my trips hither and yawn with the fuel prices going up. The lady at our local station told hubby Thursday that they expect gas to be at $6.00 by summer. Ohhh boy.................

Have a blessed week everyone. Stay safe!

Just wait til you let them have their first bath-they are so freaken funny to watch being little torpedos through water and flapping their little wings.
If gas goes that high Im afraid the economy is going to re-tank again, I just hope Im able to enjoy going up to Perry and camp and swim this summer-and that is really sad that driving to Perry will become too expensive, I can barely afford it now and its only a 40 min drive

I see the biggest problem for me will be selling my chicks and also going to buy feed. It already cost too much as it is. Sure wish I could come up with some cheaper options, but I won't sacrifice health of my birds for saving money.
Selling the chicks is already a problem this year because the weather has been so cool and gas prices now.
I live about an hour from any major town/city and people won't drive that far for a few hobby birds with high gas prices.

$6.00 seriously? That seems like an overstatement by the attendant.. I'd be surprised if it hits $5 even! Either way looks like photoshoot prices will be going up if that's the case! (hmm... And egg prices too

I have three sections of hardware in my spine. Two sections in my cervical spine and one in my lumbar spine. I also have a titanium plate in my right wrist, and it is fused. Yes I am right handed. But because of all this, I was forced into early retirement and now have time to raise my birds. They also keep me so much healthier. A year and a half ago I could scarcely walk. Thanks to day in and out caring for my birds I get around pretty darned good......most days.
