Also while i know the pics aren't the easiest i have had a Bluff Orphents from the get go seem to have a low hanging belly. I don't know if this is something to be worried about none of the other chicks tummy hang this low so wanted to double check this chick is the biggest of the BO and is eating and pass stools fine.

Not sure what the deal is on that chick. It looks more like what you would expect to see on a cornish cross than a buff orp. Are it's legs okay? Does it stand normal? My advice if the legs are normal and it eats and poops normal is to just wait and see what happens. It does look very puffy in the pictures. It could be anything from perfectly normal to having some intestines outside of the stomach wall. There really is no way to tell at this point....at least from what I can see. As long as it thrives and does well I wouldn't worry too much at this point.

Danz,
Ok thanks yea i read about water belly but couldn't find anything for this young of a chick and I gently squeezed and it was firm not watering so yep will just wait and see and am just guessing on it being a Bluff Orphents but who knows what it's breed really is but she is a sweet chicky with may handling and checking it.

@Dani4Hedgies , maybe she is just going to be a fat little hen. 5 - 6 Pick up sticks. 9 -10 Big fat hen.

My tri-color kitten Daisy died last weekend. She had been sick with the respiratory infection that has been killing weaker cats at the shelter for the last month. She fought it for 2 weeks, but she was just too little, I guess. I realized when I went in to clean on Thursday that the other kittens her age (6-7 months) are twice or 3 times her size, so I'm guessing there was something else going on with her. It was so sad. She was such a sweet little thing -- she just didn't thrive. The vet implied that she may have had feline leukemia that complicated the virus infection, but there is no real way to know. I guess you don't see that they aren't growing if there isn't a comparison to use.
I'm so sorry for your loss.

Yep they are open. I was going to get a new picture but haven't found the time. Britt got on a kick she wanted to move them because she was hot in the dog house. I don't think she'll be hot today. I am hoping even though this wind is cold it will dry things up a bit so when they are ready they can get outside. They're a ways from that yet. Still sleeping most of the time. They're getting fat and you can sure see who the tit hogs are. Another week or so I might be able to start introducing them to some soft food.

Danz I'll bet those puppies are adorable! I just love baby animals of any kind, they're just too cute.

Boy that wind came up yesterday & it got colder fast! I was out trying to get everything fed & about blew away trying to do it. Ugh, it's going to be so bad when it really stays colder, I hate it.

I'm about ready to go out and face the wind. Not really wanting to at all but these darned birds need feed and water. And of course the dogs do too.
I'd like to catch a picture of the pups awake but seems when they are all awake Britt is in there feeding them or I am too busy to go get my camera at the moment.

I know, since I am new to chickens I'm outside what feels like ALL THE TIME! It's been so cold! I have used to have a horse...but it only took a fraction of the time to care for Katy! And I'm such a wimp this year! We had such a hot Summer which was horrible too since I had to be out in it all the time! and Fall...I feel sorry for my birds...and the cows/wildlife/...everything that has to survive out in the cold!
