Just updated my olive egger thread in case anybody want to see the little 1/2 auracauna/RIR chicks I have.

I am loving them! They just have the sweetest disposition! I can't thank you enough @sharol for sending buddy our way. He is fabulous with the ladies and makes pretty babies!

@venymae loved the pictures of your chickens. They've turned out really cute. I found the pullet that produced some offspring with tails. Your boy must have been one of her very first eggs because I'd never had one until then. She has since joined my laying group instead of the breeders. At any rate he served a great purpose for you. I donated all her tailed chicks to a little girl who wanted chickens that laid blue eggs.
Yesterday was such a long long day. Early on my first customer came and got a pair of geese. She had come with two other people so I convinced them to help me pull out the three that were going to the second customer. As usual it was a work out but we got all 5 geese gathered up. I put the three for the second pen in a kennel for later. Then I fed and watered the rest. Before I got done watering I saw the three had gotten out of the kennel. The gate must not have latched. So they were running free in the yard. I had to chase them down and catch them and put them back in the kennel. Then I went on with my task of feeding and watering the rest of the birds. It was so darned cold out there. It reminded me winter is far from over.
After that I got DH to bring in another incubator and set it up to incubate goose eggs. They take so much space and there just isn't enough room in the other two with all the chicken eggs. I'm definitely afraid of running out of space for eggs with all the geese I have this year. Maybe I can convince him to get back to work on the building and get these incubators working out there rather than having them in my house. Probably not going to happen.
Anyway then I came back in and worked on cleaning the house. I worked until about 8:00 pm and still have a lot of cleaning to do. With the chicks and the incubators in here there is chick dust every where. My last customer got held up at KU med and didn't get here until 9:45. She lives further west than Wichita and it's a long drive up here. No way would I let anyone else show up that late but I knew exactly what birds to get for her and what a long drive she had ahead of her. I immediately crashed when she left.
For those who know about One Wing, I was so happy yesterday. She laid her first egg again after nearly loosing her. To me that says she is well for sure and I can relax a little. After surviving egg peritonitis and pneumonia I wasn't sure if she would be able to lay again or if her future eggs would break inside due to scar tissue. Needless to say I was so happy. She got a special treat for dinner last night in celebration. Rice, meal worms, and a tomato. Three of her favorite foods.

Lol Danz me and your last customer has more then chickens in common both my hubby and I work at KU Med oh and my neighbor will be coming down with us on the 12th to possibly get more chickens too no worries we are making a chicken pen to put in the trunk of my car for our new ladies :)

I just put quite a few eggs in the incubator last night for my first batch, including duck eggs. We'll find out in about 10 days how fertility is running right now. People are getting antsy about getting chicks, but winter isn't over yet. I just have a gut feeling it's not done with us even though it's been warmer. There is supposed to be some front coming soon, colder weather again, yuck I am so done with it. I want it to be warmer when I have to go back to taking over chicken & animal chores.

Lots of people are looking for chicks but not what I have already to go. Drat!! I wish I could depend on everything to lay all the time.
I sold a pair of peafowl while ago. That is a couple more down.
I sat goose eggs while ago and had 8 that cracked from freezing in the last couple days. I've even been getting out early to get them. I did check the cracked one and one was a double yolker and about half of them showed fertile. At least the dogs and chickens enjoyed eating some really big eggs. I have about a dozen duck eggs but they are all coated in mud. Not sure what I can do about that. I have a tray of eggs hatching today as well. Seems to be a never ending process this time of year.
I've got so much to do but it would be a great day to butcher my extra drakes. I guess it can wait until another warmer day unless I find some time some where.
Yesterday I was working on a project and had a board move too fast and gouged a huge hole out of my finger. I could have used stitches but it took skin and meat both. It's on my right index finger which I am learning is the one I use the most. Drat!

You never notice how much you use something until it hurts, right?!? I hope your finger heals quickly!

I came in for a short break and for some lunch. I'm on my way back out to put a second coat of paint ont he chicken coop. Getting closer to being ready for my chicks to arrive March 9th or 10th!

@lizzyGSR I'm excited for you, can't wait to see pics of the chicks you get! I hatch a lot of chicks but I just never get tired of looking at them.

I went out & did just a few things yesterday & came in exhausted. It's going to take awhile to get all of my strength & endurance back after this surgery. It just seems to sap your energy. Until then I have to just do a little at a time & take it easy.

Danz, what are your English orps like as far as laying? Im wanting to get some gentle pretty birds for my nephews and wondered if English orps would be a good choice. Do you have any pics of your birds?
