Consolidated Kansas

I broke a tooth yesterday morning on a ham sandwich of all things. It split clear through the root, so it had to be extracted. My dentist worked me in yesterday afternoon and patched it together for the night, and this morning I went to Topeka to have it removed my the oral surgeon. I have a reputation for hard to remove teeth, and my dentist won't touch it, even though it was toward the front. They were right and he had to break it up to get it out.

I had the surgeon put in an implant, so in 4 months I'll have a tooth installed that spot. No insurance covers implants, but my insurance wouldn't cover the bridge either, so it wasn't a lot more money. I guess that is what 401k's are for, right?

Now I hurt, and the high dose pill I took at noon is wearing off. I suppose I'll have to take them for a couple of days. I HATE having my teeth worked on. Luckily I had a great dentist and an equally talented surgeon on my side with this one.

I'll quit whining now and go feed the chicks. This little one is 3 weeks old. A Silver Campine from @Wisher1000 's eggs.

Oh goodness Sharol it doesn't sound like you've had a fun couple of days. I hope the pain is manageable and you heal fast. Sorry about the loss of the tooth and the need for an implant. Sucks!!!

Anyone here know what adult peas are worth? I'm going to have to sell all of mine and wasn't sure what I should ask for them when I list them. I have an IB split to white or pied 3 yr old peacock, a 2 year old IB split to BS (I think) peahen that I want to sell as a pair. Then a 2 year old BS peacock and the white one that I asked about gender on a while back estimated to be 1.5 years old. Anyone know what these would be worth as a group and individually? I want to sell the first two together and for sure won't sell the female without a male.

Well I better get off the internet and get my buckling disbudded so he can go to his new home tomorrow. Ugh!!!!! I have 3 others that need to be done too. I just HATE doing it!!!

I just keep reminding myself that at least it isn't 1870 going to a barber to have the tooth pulled.

It sucks, but down the line it will all be fine. Thanks for the sympathy. I'm pretty good at feeling sorry for myself today.

yeah he is a cutie. One of the smallest in the hatch, but he has lots of energy.

These are my 9 week old broody hatched chicks. I just moved them to the big coop, and they are fitting in quite well. They are bigger than their Araucana mother and have been in the yard with all the other chickens for several weeks.

This is the Breda chick.

These two pictures are both fuzzy. The first because it was a long zoom, and the second because I can't figure out how to make my new camera flash when I want it to. GRRRR. I may have to read the manual.

I'm thinking I may have 2 pullets. Anyone else have any idea on it?

So sorry about your tooth Sharol.
I am really upset this morning. Apparently there was a couple at the Yoder sale yesterday spreading smack about me. It just makes me sick. At least someone told me but didn't know who they were. They were saying I sold them birds that died because they had leg issues. And apparently it was spread all over because I've even had an inquiry about it on one of the facebook pages I had chicks advertised on. Most likely the birds got mereks or had a head injury of some kind. My guess. I have sold thousands of birds without complaint and raised gobs with no problems, other than having some over crowding issues now and then. Anyone who is happy with my birds I would appreciate your comments on these facebook pages to help clear my name. I would never sell sick birds to anyone intentionally. I work very hard to keep them healthy and am very proud of the birds I have.
I feel like crying. Maybe I should just quit Hatching at all.

@sharol I'm sorry about your tooth, hopefully it will feel better soon. It sounds like me, I have some really old fillings that keep either coming out or my tooth cracks underneath.
