Happy Tuesday everyone! I know I spammed in here last week, but thought I would let you all know Kansas is just not being represented in the Chicken Lore Project.
If you have some spare time, feel free to submit a few cities and earn a GFM!
I don't live it town but tried looking up some in KS and NE but I just got confused would it all be under animals and if doesn't say livestock or poultry I assume it is ok and one said something about pet birds.
Hi all from just east of Newton and soon to be an industrial park!
I have been building new chicken housing for my spring chicks! I hatched some and then bought some others when all the eggs I had in the incubator didn't hatch. Most of them weren't fertile. Anyway, I have a Serema roo (a little guy) whom we got a banty cochin hen for. We put some of her eggs in the incubator and had a 80% success rate! Unfortunately I tried sticking the new chicks under one of my hens that already had some three day old chicks. They didn't make it. I just had another chick hatch and two more in the incubator.
Sorry about the long winded story. Can anyone tell me if a single chick will be ok by itself (it is in a cage in our sunroom) or should I get it some banty chicks to keep it company?
Renee
I've got 12 B/B/S Ams coming with an expected hatch date on 3/31.
I'll be loading at least a couple dozen eggs into the new bator by mid week.
Of the 10 eggs found from our broody's clutch, at least eight of them having been out through the storm last weekend, I have 5 confirmed heartbeats and 3 possibles.
As if that's not enough good news, today was a BEAUTIFUL day!!!!
Anybody have eggs they want hatched? The turner holds 41 after all.
