Consolidated Kansas

Well, you can bet that corporations (that got him elected) will get payback from Brownback. Sad. I'm sorry your plans got messed up.

It is too late. The program has already been cancelled. We were supposed to have our audit done tomorrow and the auditor called me yesterday to inform me that the funding had been pulled. So no improvements for our house. I'm really irritated about it. The auditor said he will call me if they open it back up but he wasn't too confident that it would happen.

Well, that sucks. We're approved and Westar is funding us, but this should have been something that sooooooo many more could have benefitted from. Call your reps, folks, and make a stink. If we don't start making noise it's going to be "United we recline..."

Hubby used to call me a loose cannon/squeaky wheel/troublemaker. Then when things started to get bad all around us he was constantly saying, "Somebody ought to do something about...." and "They ought to..." until the day I stopped him. I asked him who 'somebody' was. I asked him who would make these changes? He never thought about it. If he doesn't share his opinions and feelings, wants and needs with his representatives, they don't represent him. They represent everyone who makes contact with them...theoretically...and if you don't speak up, they can't know what you want.

I'm going to raise heck about this. I know two ladies in their 90s who need this and we were just going for their audits. This sucks.

I tried too but told no more money-broken windows, no heat and now a bad leak from the last storm-would of been nice but who cares about us tax payers, oh well just hoping everyone I know will have a job next week since if the gov goes belly up all their jobs are gone

I don't have words for what I want to say.

Funny you should mention this. I just signed a contract yesterday to have all my windows replaced. Unfortunately I am paying for them myself. The problem became this: either I pay for the heating and air or I pay for the windows. My bills are so high I decided the windows would be the best option in the long run. I just hope I live long enough that they pay for themselves.

you might get a laugh out of this, but I am dying right now! ANd it's only 89 degrees. UGH. I was putting on ONE 2X6 for the floor (along the outside of the posts) and was trying to measure 24 inches for the run under the building. I get it all leveled out with clamps and spent forever on it going from one end to the other and leveling it out, and put the screws in. For some reason, it looks too high. I measure from the ground in the middle to the top and it's like 4 inches above where I wanted it. I did a dumb thing and measured up the post from pile of dirt. Geez. I had to reset that thing and back out screws another 3 times!! (I miscalculated again another 3 times- you'd think I'd learn my lesson) I have now only accomplished putting in ONE piece of wood and I'm drenched in sweat and have nothing much to show for it. Measured off another piece and it needs cut. So I'll be double checking it a few times before I make that cut. Not sure if I'll try to put it on now. I'm out of breath and thirsty. I must be REALLY out of shape and lousy at measuring.

thanks by NatureFarms! I've done 3 sides now and learned how to use the skill saw. I had to call my husband 3 times to figure it out.

But all the cuts came out perfect. Thank goodness! Last side going to go up. But once again, taking a break as I am dying here. It's straight in the blazing sun, so it's real fun.

Everything should be level now..

going to check it again and then if I feel not too terrible, start the hangers. It's 93 now. After my start this morning, I'm surprised I'm THIS far!
