Consolidated Kansas

Spent a couple of hours in the barn rearranging duck living quarters. More muscovy duckling hatching and they have to be in something the cats can't get into whether the momma duck approves or not.

Got to see the new swallow family that is hanging out at the top of the barn. Even snapped some picture of the mom feeding them. Pretty little birds.

Anyone want some muscovy ducklings? I will make you a good deal on some. They are soooo cute and make the sweetest sounds.

Well, phooey, Mike! Wish I'd know how to find you there- I was there, too! I hung around the Smith's supplies and the lady w/ the peafowl a lot, waiting on Jenn to arrive. I had on a dark pink t-shirt and brown capri pants.

I got 6 keets for my friend Alison, and I nearly brought out a couple of birds to sell, but I left them in a running car w/ A/C instead, because I was terrified of bringing them home if no one bought them. I Oxined myself (Jenn brought the sprayer w/ her) like mad and everything I bought, just terrified of bringing something home.

I'm thinking I won't be going back, because I'm too sensitive to the things you've mentioned here, Mike, and to the folks throwing around cages of birds as if they were boxes of books. I had one fellow start in about how, "The Jew are responsible for the first Great Depression and this one."

Really, Dude? Here for CHICKENS!

I did meet Raymond! The other Michael (ByNatureFarms) introduced me, and he was a very nice gentleman! I agree his caring sentiment showed right through! Nice, clean bunnies.

It was interesting, but next time (assuming there is one) I'll be short in my stay- it was fun, but I was too sensitive for some of it. I had one seller make me out as a mark and try to signal a seller in the next stall to sucker me about the age of the keets I was looking at, saying they ought to be more expensive due to all the food they'd eaten. They couldn't have been more than 3 weeks old, and I didn't appreciate the attempt to sting me.

Weird, weird day!

I've never been to anything like that, but then we're new to chicken raising. We went for a motorcycle ride and ended up coming back with the saddlebags full of produce from the farmers' market. The chickens benefited from it, too, since they got all the apple cores when I made applesauce!

Anyone have blue slate turkey poults? Mine didn't hatch : ( I did see one ad for Blue Mound, but don't know how good their color is.

Loved the weather today! We were at the fair through the early afternoon, got everyone home and put up. Then we did a load of corn in the canner. Have to finish the rest after church tomorrow. This evening was the cookout and fireworks show that was postponed from last weekend. It was a good day here.

That makes 4 of us that were there. My 3 sons and I were there.
Raymond and I have been friends for over 15 years. He is a great guy. We use to go to rabbit shows together. His nickname is Junebug, almost like Crab-man. :-)

I picked up a New Zealand buck from Raymond. 3 Coronation/Light Sussex from Jenn. I also picked up a Coronation/Light Sussex chick, 3 Blue Laced Red Wyandotte 6 month roo, 2 adult hens.

There was a couple that have a adult pair at the swap meet, did not sell $55. There is a guy down by parsons that may have some.

Thanks for the tip.

Well, apparently you need a permit to have a rooster. It's $2, but if you get rid of the rooster you don't need a permit. Animal control just stopped by ... instead of just talking to me somebody called the city. Typical of the ones north of me. They put up a "windbreak" between our yards and screwed one end into our tree!!! I'm kind of hoping a good stiff wind takes the tree and their so-called fence with it!!! So ... guess I'm paying a fine for "noise nuisance" and getting rid of Rex and Stormtrooper a little sooner than I had planned.
