Wow - lots of Kansas addicts here ....

I have my 6 - with my two lil fellows who are doomed to be extracrispy if their attitude doesnt change - and 4 pretty baby girls. I think one of the girls may be a bantam - she is pretty small - she wasn't in the bantam bin at the TSC - but then again... they definitely don't strike me as experts...

I am hoping to expand my flock ... I am looking for hens - barred rocks, buff orpingtons, and I'd love a lavendar orpington or two - so - does anyone in Kansas - sell these breeds? Preferably near Wichita - but am willing to do a road trip. I'd prefer young adults - but will be willing to accept chicks but will wait until April in that case - don't want to try them going thru winter!

I've no idea how many we have at the moment. Mixed and purebred depending on what our plans are for them.

Naughty, the state fair is coming up in a few weeks. I know a lot of people will deliver to shows. You can also often buy from shows. It's Sept. 11th.

We don't have any of what you're wanting, but when I decide what I'm parting with I'll post them here for anyone interested. We'll be going that weekend and I could meet up to drop off along our route.

We've been thinking about going as we usually do Thanksgiving in Wichita, but haven't decided yet. Since I told the kids they could go to the big OK one in Dec. though I've been anticipating a nice break until then.

I plan to go to the fair - maybe I'll get lucky and find some good "babies" to add to my family. I always look at the chickens anyway - this will be the first time I'll take a carrier with me just in case.

So if any of you are at the fair and you see some fat chick drooling over the barred rocks... it's probably me. Wave hi!

I was thinking, it would be funny if we all wore name-tags with our user name when we went to stuff like this so we could recognize each other, but naughty would just look like a crazy lady inviting weird advances!! She might get lucky without any BR!!!

Anyone near Olathe, KS.? I am just curious because the laws in Olathe are restrictive if you live on less than 3 acres. That said it looks like one could get a special use permit. Is there anyone else out there that has chickens or wants to get chickens in Olathe? It would be interesting to try and get the law changed. I know that it was brought up in OP, but lost in a 7-5 vote. Anyways, I am just curious.....
