I have been getting 2 eggs a day regularly - love having enough to give them to people! Funny th ing is - have had 2 double yolkers - both were in the batches I gave away!
Lost my lil small hen though - told the 3 year old that she is visiting friends... but I"m thinking that if I check the neighbors dog - there are some dog turds w/feathers..
Think she was a bantam sized - I prefer full sized - but my kid loved the lil eggs so I'll have to get another few lil ones... I have lots of space. Funny thing - when I was working on my coop - I cleaned out and filled the wading pool for my kid to play in - soon she had a chicken, dog, and the kid all playing in the pool ... no camera
Okay - roosters aren't as dumb as they act sometimes... mine was being a good boy all week - then he started getting agressive when my eldest visited - she likes to hold the hens - and she can grab him and hold him - so he doesnt trust her... so he got a lil "cocky" and puffed up like he was going to get my legs... i yelled NO - and he actually stopped ... looked up at me ... thought he'd try again - I yelled at him again... and I think he really does know that word... he stopped and walked away... I still don't turn my back on him th ough! I actually have a little dog run in there (the dog used to be put in there du ring the day until I knew he wouldnt hurt the chicks) - so I just toss the boys in it while I'm working... or when they act up. Dare I dream that he will one day actually be a good boy?
