Consolidated Kansas

Sometimes the rivets where the copper springy thingie is have a spot where air can pass. Also, sometimes where the handle on the top piece is sealed leaks air. I have had a couple that leak where the body that holds water leaks around the seal, and I've used silicone to seal all of those spots on one or another of my waterers. If it can leak air, the water won't hold as the vacuum holding it in is broken.

Katy's right: If it's newer and you can return it, do. If not, look for the kitchen-safe silicone, and let it bake dry in the sun for at least 2 days before applying, then bake 24 hours afterward so it gets a great bond.

Well, at least two of my chickens are hens! I've been getting two eggs a day (with a couple of exceptions) for almost two weeks. I'm inordinately proud; you'd think I laid them myself.

We gained a chick this weekend. I have no idea who could have left a chick near my pen. My SIL says the word is out: Not only am I the home for wayward dogs and kids, but chickens too.

Missouri boy here just wanted to see what happens on the other side of the river from me... considering I can see Kansas from my back door I always like to try and keep a close eye on you all over there!!!

So do any of you try and attend the poultry swap meet in Nevada MO?? I know it's just over the border in west central MO, I think I saw something on KC Craigslist and cannot find it now. I believe it is closer to the end of this month and just wondering if any of you all know when it is and if I might see any of you there if I attend, hoping to find a few decent OE red hens for my trio of boys.

First, thanks for your advice. We bought another waterer, a 3 gallon so it will last a bit longer and it works great.
Now I have to clean up the messy one and take it back.

Yesterday was moving day and the girls seem to be settling in nicely. I just can't wait to get the run finished, there gonna love all those yummy bugs.
I'll be heading to the state fair Wednesday the 15th. Anyone else?

Thanks chickies-duckies the Gardner auction is always awesome. If any of you KS or MO people have never been you should consider it. They will probably have everything you can imagin.

SteveP- The answer is somewhere in this thread along with some peeps who attend. https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=73271&p=119 I haven't had a chance to go yet. Summer to fall our weekends are pretty well booked.

I want to go to Gardner if nothing else than to meet Myrna in person. She's got some nice Silkies. We were planning to go to the one in the spring, but got a late start back from KC and then it started storming bad, so we passed. If the Smith's are going to be there, they usually will bring orders with and you can skip the shipping fee. http://www.poultrysupplies.com/ Maybe next spring we'll get to go.

Sweet yall. thanks for the info, I posted the same thing in the MO thread and still nothing, I posted it in the KS thread and pow yall show up and flood me with way mre info than I needed, Really appreciate it, thanks. I'm going to do what I can to make the Auction posted above me in Gardener in two weeks, and then I'll be at Nevada barring any major conflicts in scheduling. Look forward to seeing a few folks there.

How is the Nevada show as far as any exotics go??? I am looking for some specific exotic pheasants right now but want to look before I buy (kinda kills internet sales there!!).
