HEChicken, where did you get that egg piercer, that looks handy? Good job on making that incubator, I guess I just am not that creative with things like that.

My BC Marans rooster is still sick, I wasn't here at roost time to really dose him with the VetRx last night, I will have to do it today. I did put some in the water, but am not sure how much they really get that way. I hope I can get him well without having to give the whole flock an antibiotic. I hate to lose the eggs right now.
My egg cooker (which I love so so much for hard boiled eggs!) has an egg piercer built in to it - you pierce the egg before hard boiling (it cooks in steam really). If you need to borrow it Trish, let me know.

HeChicken I won't get to see the finished project cause I had it shipped directly to the guy it was for. It was a secret santa thing and he raises a quail and research farm in Lousiana so I copied some of his pictures he's posted over the months and picture of the business to make it. It actually took me a few hours ....finding and copying pictures, then figuring out how to arrange them and what background to use. I hope he doesn't trash it. I think it looks fairly awesome. I really wanted to do one for some family members too but I just didn't have the time to gather all the photos, mark all the dates etc. Next year however I certainly intend that to be a major part of my gifting. I'll need to order several of them .....I should have had fewer children!!
Josie, I sent you a message on facebook if you get a chance to check it.
I drained, cleaned and filled the duck pond again today. It was warm enough and with the forcast I figured If I were going to do it again for the next several weeks I had better get it done.
Then I got DH to set up a jig so I could cut dog ears on fence panels and we started putting them along bottom of the front porch. Been planning that project for over a year. I don't want any of my animals to get the idea to go back under there. I had to crawl under that thing too many times last year. So far it looks pretty nice. We got the front and one side done. I got all the dog ears cut and just have to finish cutting the lengths on the panels for the final side. Now if I could actually get some railings up some day I would be happy.

Did you guys get your calendars done through Zazzle?

No, MyPublisher. They were quite a bit cheaper than Zazzle. I've made a calendar for each family member for about the last 6 years, and have used MyPublisher for the past four, and been really happy with them.

Danz, awwww...sorry you won't get to see it but I'm sure he'll love it.

That was fast Sunflower.
PrairieChickens these guys are fast. They made my calender in two days and shipped it. I do wish I could see it but the previews looked good. I thanked HeChicken for posting it but I should have also thanked you for bringing it up in the first place. It was the perfect gift for someone I know little about other than what he does as a business and that he is a very generous person.
This gave me an opportunity to personalize a gift that features his business. I love the idea!!!

Zazzle's usually pretty fast too, but you're right--they're much more pricey. They have their reasons for being so, but.... it'll be nice having an alternative for when I want to order stuff for myself. There have been several times I've wanted to order something for my students, but it was just too cost prohibitive to do it with Zazzle.

Oh no!! Have you thought about doing a couple kinds of lasagna? We did that one year for a Christmas work party we hosted. I think we did four 13 by 9 pans of lasagna, a huge bowl of salad, garlic bread and brownies for dessert. It was a huge hit! I think we had 25ish people and still had some leftovers. I went to Sams club to get stuff like a big tub of ricotta and the shredded cheese because we needed so much of it. It was quick to make because we prepped everything the night before and put it in the fridge and cooked it the day of the party. Good luck!!
I'm freaking out here! DH's shift really wanted me to just make dinner for them Monday night instead of us all going out to eat. DH thinks most of them eat out all the time and the home-cooked meal would be the real treat for them. BUT ... I have that on Monday, Grandma's birthday and my part of that meal on Tuesday, treats to make for dogs and neighbors, and two Christmases I have to bring stuff to next week. So I told him they had to figure out what they want to eat and DON'T LEAVE ME HANGING UNTIL SUNDAY NIGHT!!! Right. He can't even tell me how many people are coming. I don't want to know who he THINKS is coming, I need to know who he KNOWS is coming. Right? Do you think I have a menu? The only thing he can tell me is they don't care what I make and he won't commit to what he wants to eat. Because I need more stress right now .....

Calenders are a good idea. One of DH's parents close family friends does one every year and they are a huge hit. It is a nice idea too for those people you aren't sure what to get for because everyone needs a calender!

Phew, I am beat. We spent all day packing the garage, cleaning, the horses had their feet trimmed. I am just wiped right out. I tried a new recipe for fluffier mashed potatoes where you steam them in a dutch oven instead of boiling them and the dutch oven ran out of water and stunk the house up with burnt stink. Sigh. Hope everyone had a good day!
