TA-DA
How is everyone, I have been fighting Bronchitis! I am so sick of coughing. My new barn is going up, hopefully they will get the roof trusses up this coming week. That is if the weather moderates again!
So good to see you on again! Has Britt had her puppies yet? Susie has posted a couple things to my facebook but she didn't mention any new arrivals yet.
Woot! I'll be a dog grandma again!! My little bundles are growing like weeds these days. Any news on jobs for them yet?

One has the polish, ( as ivy calls them, "Q-tips" ) and the other pen has a lavendar ameraucana cock bird over ameraucana/cooper maran cross hens for olive-eggers. I have one pen ready to go, but since the new barn is still being built, I have had to kid a couple of goats in that pen. I have some juvinile cream legbars running around in there.
Hopefully when the barn is ready to move into, I will have a plan. I am just thankful DH finally got the builders out here to get it going. It looks like I am only going to take the rosecomb breeders over there and maybe the partridge wyandotte bantams, and maybe the polish.

I am so excited to get my new "office, incubator/hatcher/brooder room. All my that will be in one room. Along with a fridge, sink with running water, all my cabnets, meds, and waterers, feeders, just everything I need out there.
All my equipment I will be able to keep clean, I am going to have the incubator and hatcher, vented out the wall so that most of the chick dust will go out side
yippiechickie.gif
going to work with the builder to see what will be the best way to do that.

I am working on how my cabnets will be. All my plastic water, feeders, founts, extra drinker cups, will have labeled places in the cabnets, as well all shelf meds, and things like that.
I m not sure how big my fridge will be, as I really don't carry that much fridge meds.

So, kinda still a big jumbo mess.
I am SOOOOOOOO jealous. That is so much like what I want. I need a heated room to do all my incubating and hatching and brooding in and a poultry barn to house the birds I'm breeding. How big is your building going to be? I'd like a room to work on my other projects I have to keep some of the clutter and mess out of the house too. My dream building would either have an external solar, wood, or pellet stove so could run PEX in the floor and heat the slab. Since I can't afford the building, I can continue to dream about all the extras I would like to have. It would be nice to have a facility where I didn't have to worry about water freezing and or dealing with all the chick dust in the house.
And the best part would be feeding indoors instead of outside. I'm like Hawkeye. Cold weather and I do not get along. Anything below 70 is miserable to me.

Well this poor poor dog is again being advertised on the Cowley Pet Swap site. The owner is looking for a country home for her. This is the ad from the other site: "Great Pyrenees needs a country home! She will be 2 in June. Is up to date on all of her shots. Has never been in the country so will probably not make a good guardian dog however she does make a great guard dog. She is good with other dogs. She is housebroke and has been an indoor pet but can be kept outdoors part of the time because she loves the outdoors. PM me if interested. We are located in Ark City. She will be free to a good and loving home." Contact Paula Murphree for more information on Facebook. I feel so bad for this dog, the owner didn't research the breed before getting her & they have struggled with her shedding fur in the house & the dog is very, very unhappy because she can't be outdoors. Can you imagine a GP staying in the house? She runs away when she gets out & the woman has gotten citations for her running loose in town.

Here is the most pitiful photo of the dog, she looks so sad, it breaks my heart!

Here is the link to the site where the ad is located if anyone wants to contact the owner: https://www.facebook.com/groups/242997209071468/

Someone on the KS Farm Swap site said she might be able to be trained as an LGD if she had other GPs to teach her. It's just a sad, sad situation & I hope for the dog's sake she finds a new home this time. You can see by her face that she is very unhappy in her present situation.

At least I have baking to do today. My chicks are recovering and getting stronger. As soon as I took them off the duramycin and started them on the herbal tea they started getting better. I feel relieved.

I forgot to add--- I will be looking for 2 -4 turkey hens. Blue slate, narragansett, standard bronze, black spanish, royal palm are the breeds I want. I have 2 toms and they need some girls. Since their ladies were taken by a predator they have been lonely. If anyone has any please let me know and also price. There will also be a couple chicken breeds I am looking for also. Serema, bantam and standard cochin in blue, mottled or spalsh, marans in blue or black and jersey giant in blue or splash. Thanks everyone in advance

Trish, if I can get transportation arranged I might have finally found her a home.... a great home. This person has no vehicle. They actually have one of Marshmallows pups and an very old GP. He was wanting another playmate for Topaz (the dog they got from me a couple years ago.) If any one at all can assist with transportation and he agrees they won't find a better home. I had contacted her with a couple of other people in the past but I don't think she was ready to sell her yet. She'd just quit answering my messages. I hope she is serious this time.
Your bird is on the way by the way. They picked it up about 8:30.
It is so bitter cold out there. I need to water everyone but I had to warm up a bit first. I'll have to use the heat gun on the faucet so I can turn it on. It is frozen shut. I hate this weather!!

Danz, I sure hope you can get it arranged to get the dog to that person, she looks so darned sad, it just makes me burn. I would help some with transportation, but I don't think the lady likes me after what I told her the last time. It was the truth though, these dogs don't belong inside the house or in the city.

Well I best be getting around it sounds like, Frizzled Pink will be here any time.

Yes she should be getting there unless they stopped somewhere. I hope you like your little boy!
I haven't gotten an answer yet from this guy on the dog. I am sure he will have to discuss it with his significant other. He was wanting one of my pups but I think this dog needs a home first. This has been pending too long. If Marshmallow would allow an adult dog on the place I'd take her just so she had a chance.

hi checoukan, i came in the last couple days , i hope you are feeling better, please have patience with my chicken 101 questions :)
Well, glad you joined the group, I am kinda hit and miss on posting. Lots of times, I just lurk in the back ground. But, if you ask me a question, I will answer. I have had chickens almost all my life, and been breeding rosecomb bantams for about 8 years along with my "other" birds.

Checoukan I am really happy to see you back again. I really miss your input and updates on Ivy when she isn't posting anything.
I mentioned you a while back. I am getting some exhibition orps soon and I was saying since I don't want to show maybe I could get you and Hawkeye to do it for me. LOL I have some whites I hatched from Hinkcj's eggs but I haven't had great luck with them. I have one I just discovered has a cold and isn't looking good. If I end up with a trio I'll feel blessed. I spent about $100 on eggs and don't have much to show for it.
I am working toward getting some top notch stock. It takes a while and lots of money too. I've had so many problems lately. These crazy import birds don't have the resistance to our particular viruses like the domestic fowl do.
Days like today I almost despise my birds. I got out and battled water and food and now I hurt all over.
I need to move to a warmer climate for sure.

Its been so quiet around here this weekend. Checoukan - good to have you check in once in a while

Danz, sorry to hear you have another one doing poorly.

Millie is looking a lot like a real chicken again, and she isn't so timid any more either. I think the others sensed she was ill and picked on her, which made her run screaming and find something to hide. Now that she's well again, they've stopped picking on her so she is a much happier little hen. Now to get Josie those pics she was wanting.

I am thinking ahead to spring when I will - hopefully - have broodies hatching out varieties of chicks I've been wanting for awhile. I'm getting ready to set up some little broody coops for them to brood in and start to raise their chicks in safety.

Has anyone heard about the K-State pullets yet for this year? I looked up last year's announcement and it was on Jan 22nd so it probably isn't far away for this year. If you hear anything, please post it here. I think I might get some this year.
