Consolidated Kansas

My wife is also an RN but wasn't a believer until it was too late. There have been bills before Congress on this subject, but the lobby against it is too strong. They care more about the next election than peoples health.
That's a given. One of the reasons that Monsanto scares the crap out of me and what they are doing to our food and NOT telling us! If their crops and seeds can wipe out entire colonies of honey bees and kill butterfiles, hay fields killing entire herds of cattle, and there has been proof that their foods cause cancer.... and yet the FDA is still approving it, we're just screwed. It's up to us to take care of us because the US could not give a crud. I no longer buy grocery store meat or dairy. NEVER. And trying to cut down on the grains that Monsanto is a part of is a really, really tough job. That involves your cereals, breads, ect! Basically if you're not eating organic, it's a ticking time bomb.

Welcome to the thread Ralph. This may be one of the causes of Lupus but it is certainly not the only one. My mother was diagnosed with it 45 years ago, well before diet soft drinks were even available and it wouldn't have mattered if they had been as she wouldn't have been drinking them.

x2 - we don't do low sugar, low fat in anything because after everything I've read, at the end of the day the "fully leaded" versions are better for you.
Absolutely better off doing that!

Lol this is a test run we are doing a small amount probably 2 lbs and using just a simple gardening tray for now your set up pics a re really cool though when I get this perfected I want a set up like that

Oh so very far behind! I try to stay caught up and I think I will post later and that is a mistake! When I have time to post there are like 3 new posts but when I don't get to it there are 40!!! Busy gang!

Anyway, I have such bad pregnancy brain today I can hardly remember what all everyone wrote. I just took a break from painting to eat and drink something. Most of the trim in the nursery is done and I taped the windows and painted them today. Hoping to get the first coat of wall paint on later this afternoon. Yeah! Then I can finally set everything up in there. I think I am going to run out and feed horses and birds etc before this nasty cold front moves through. Yuck. They are predicting possible snow for us tonight. So sad. I am ready for spring and this is like a Maine spring but worse! Poor animals, such a shock to go from 70 degrees to a low of 29 overnight!

We got a lot done yesterday. Spent most of the afternoon pulling t posts on the horse pasture back into position because Jackson has been sticking himself through the fence to graze on the other side. Three quarters of the fence was already falling over and most of the wire had to be re tightened so now we are working on running a line of hotwire to keep him off the wire fence. He is such a giant tool.

Hope everyone that is sick is feeling better!

Darn, it is raining out now....

Has anyone heard from Chicken Danz today? I have been thinking about her and so hoping that she didn't lose anymore birds - that Fluff made it home ok - and that she, herself is feeling better.........

Hey I'm here. Been another one of those days. I have my hands full but feeling a little more optimistic than the last several days.
I actually lost more birds today. Four in the sick pen and one of my two Lavender orpington roosters. I honestly think he broke his neck. I am sure glad I had a back up. No one in that pen is ill at all and all are doing well and laying good. I've had at least one other bird break their neck before. Sad cause he was a huge beautiful boy.
The other four died from this sickness. Until this is totally resolved and cured I'm not letting any birds come in or leave here. I've never seen anything like this before. I spent another $130 today ordering more meds. I have really gone through a bunch lately. And I needed a couple another option to have on hand. I am doing everything I can to try to keep this from spreading to my other birds. What a total mess. I tend to worry myself silly over little colds and stuff but this stuff is something major.
Fluff is back home and doing okay but he is now having panic attacks. I am sure that is what it is. I feel so sorry for him. He just wants me to sit out there and hold him like he is a tiny puppy. I think if Marshmallow would just go lay by his pen it would help so much. I can see him perk up when she shows up. But she is trying to be super dog and do all the predator work alone. She takes her work so serious. I don't even think she napped today. She was too busy watching for predators.
You should have seen Marshmallow when Fluff got out of the car. She was so excited she was running in circles then licking his face then running again. She really did miss her buddy last night. I so wish I could just let him run in the yard right now. I know he feels like he is in prison being kept in a kennel.

Danz sorry that your still losing birds hope it ends very soon.

Mrs broody pants has the other six shipped eggs under her and so far one has hatched and 4 other have peeped :D. I hope they will be okay with temps dropping tonight

Well I've been busy today, had a trip to Wichita this afternoon. When I left it was 77 here & when I was coming back it was 48 & has come down some more since then. The wind is blowing like crazy too. It's thundering now, so I think the storm is almost here. Ugh, I hate to see winter come back again, I was so enjoying the warmer temperatures.

I got back & fed all my birds & animals & then moved all but one rabbit back into the garage. The one buck is in the big heavy rabbit hutch & he's more protected in there. I tried to catch him too, but he was having none of it, so since it was already dark I decided to just leave him out there, he should be OK in there. They really do better in the cold than the heat. I did at least get all the smaller rabbits moved back into the garage. I didn't get all the trays put back in there, so there will be some more cleanup after this is over, but I wasn't quite finished in there anyway. I want to move all the hutches when I finally get them all moved out & sweep underneath them. Those little critters are really messy, I have some that just love scratching their food out of the feeder & dumping it all over the floor & some that like to spill their water bowl daily then get mad at me because they don't have any water. Yes, rabbits do have personalities.

Well everyone hang on for this one, I hope everyone's birds make it through OK & you all stay warm.

I have been following this group for some time now and have learned a lot. I am in southeast Kansas , near McCune, and raise Nubian goats. several breeds of chickens, Guineas, African geese, and Great Pyrenees . I thought I would jump in on the subject of Lupus as My wife has this and was diagnosed in the 1990's. Her doctors told here it was caused by years of drinking diet soft drinks that contained Aspartame and using sweeteners containing Aspartame. I just received an article on this subject on my Facebook today on this subject. If I knew how I would post it for you to read. If you are prone to migraine headaches and drink diet drinks and use sweeteners containing Aspartame you might want to stop. Also it is believed to be the cause of the "Gulf War Syndrome". Aspartame converts to Formaldehyde when exposed to temperatures above 86 degrees F. The Gulf War Syndrome has the same symptoms as Formaldehyde Poisoning. a lot of diet drinks were exposed to 100+ degrees in the Gulf area. Well, enough on that subject. Have a good day. Ralph
I was the one diagnosed. I do not drink or eat anything diet. I am a herbalist and very aware of the chemical nonsense they put into processed foods. Lupus is a mystery disease. Some think it to be genetic and some think it is caused by lifestyle choices and our environments. Some just dont claim to have an answer. What they all can agree on however, is that patients suffer great deals of pain and fatigue, memory loss, kidney problems(most not all) skin rashes, depression, and you are in constant danger of heart attack or stroke, kidney disease or failure, or any other organ disesase or major complication as your body attacks and destroys any and all healthy tissue. Some people are diagnosed with a slow or less complicated form others are diagnosed with the hard or severe form as I was. Lots of things will continue to effect my body and cause flare ups to arise or worsen, such as your aspertame and anything artificial or processed. There are so many lifestyle changes that are to be made. The disease is life threatening and depending upon the severity and how many changes you make after you are diagnosed there really is no telling how any particular person will react as far as organ and tissue health.

How are we liking this crazy Kansas weather? It was 75 degrees on my way home last night and within 4 miles dropped to 55. This morning we have a winter wonderland, have already been losing branches off the trees, one hit the roof of the house and I am hoping it didnt punch a hole in it, too icy for this guy to get up there.
