I had a very productive chicken and duck weekend.
First of all, I rehomed my two RIR roosters. Posted them on Craig's List Saturday afternoon, late that night I had an e-mail. The address was in Spanish, so I was a little sick to my stomach about the fate of the roosters. The next morning I contacted them and I asked no questions because I did not want to know. A young couple came with their two young children, the husband barely spoke English. In my mind I am thinking they are getting two free dinners. As I was walking to the pen, the woman started telling me that her husband just got a bunch of hens and needed some roosters for them! I was so relieved. When we got to the coop, he really liked the "doll house" my husband had built, told his wife to tell me he had also built a house for his chickens and that he was a roofer. I am so happy that my roosters had a happy ending.
My husband also was able to fix our water spigot. He dug up the wet layer of soil in the duck pen and cleaned the duck pool of all the mud. I laid some hay all in it and cleaned out the muddy duck house. The ducks are all clean and fluffed up for the first time in months. They were so happy to have their pool filled again.
