Another productive butchering day! Glad it was a lot cooler than other days... hope you all are enjoying these cooler temps..

Just got some great news. I sold my 3 campines to some people a while back. The little hen got a blue but one of the little roos took best of breed, best of show and grand champion for the little girl that showed her. Needless to say I am thrilled and so is the little girl and her family. The little hen lost a couple points because her comb wasn't perfect. These people have bought birds from me the last 3 + years for 4 H and have won something every time but this one was the best.
I'm not feeling very well today and am feeling like a bit of a witch. I hate days when I feel grumpy. It's one of those days I would be better off to just stay in bed.

Not much going on around here today - I've been so busy lately that it is nice to have a relaxed day for once. I have things I need to do outside but am waiting until later in the afternoon when those areas are in shade.

I'm so glad it's not so hot today, still warm, but not as bad as it has been. It looks like we're going to get a break for a few days, woohoo! I'm sure looking forward to that. I'm hoping we can get the roof put on the goat shelter while it's not so hot so they have somewhere to get in out of the weather. Goats hate getting wet & the last time it rained they were out ranging around in the yard & they ran for the big spirea bush & stayed under that until it was done raining.

I've been hatching my first guinea keets the last couple of days, there are 5 hatched so far & 7 more to go yet. They sure take their sweet time hatching, but they do have really hard shells to break through, much harder than chicken eggs. My two little peafowl seem to be doing well, I have seen at least one of them eating & drinking & they're walking well now. They're so darned cute at this age. I got a peahen for my males awhile back & the one dominant male has claimed her, he really displays for her & shows off. They're only a year old, so they don't have their full tails yet, but what he does have he shows off for his girlfriend. My guineas have decided they like living down by the lagoon better than in the pen at night, so most of them stayed out last night. I sure hope I don't lose them all to owls or other predators. They have done a wonderful job of cleaning out the ticks around here this year.

I finally got a good picture of my two new hatchlings. Lemondrop (left) and Sassafras (right). Their moms were a Buff Orpington and an EE with Butch, my deceased roo. Thanks to everyone who posted encouraging remarks during this interesting experiment. I'm hoping that one of them will "step into the shoes" of his father, but I'll settle for pullets (of course).

Sooooo cute and awesome names!!! Congrats again.

Michael Jordan is growing up! We love this little guy. So far, he's really nice & friendly but he's just 3 months old.

Hechicken --- Congrats on the new fence! Sure is nice to let the goats loose.

I'm back to having internet. AT&T u-verse is working awesome right now, it is running close to 6 mbps downstream so I'm happy as a clam. I'll be catching up on posts and emails this weekend!!
