I used to watch the Olympics now and then. I always said there are two kinds of people. Spectators and participators. I would have to be classed as a participator. I never enjoyed watching sports. I was married to a coach in my first marriage and that really burnt me out on sports too. But I would much rather play the games than watch them. I certainly have never been coordinated and talented though. I just don't sit still well. I have to at least keep my hands busy when I am sitting. Or now that I am older it's pretty easy to keep my eyelids busy going shut while I am sitting.Holy molly, is there an end to this cold weather? Bet you'll never hear this from me, right? I think for a change, I'd like to have some warmer weather. Above freezing will be nice.![]()
LOL no that doesn't sound like you at all!
I've so busy at work my husband now becomes the primary care taker of the birds. I only go out there to clean tgeir coop and give them fresh water. I miss them a lot! Egg laying has picked up from 3 a day to 9 a day. We've had 11 the other day but of course this cold weather reduced it to 8 or 9. No complain here. I've also started them back on the FF. They definitely go gaga over it according to my DH.
Hopefully work will slow down for you soon after tax season. I miss your input.
Kicknchicken - welcome to our board. You are close to Danz so might want to check out her orps. Tons on very knowledgeable people here. We also love pictures so when you get the fuzzy butts, don't hesitate to post away.
With some casualties from the weather and the dogs (when they first arrived) plus some stopped laying due to old age, I think I need to hatch some replacements. Hoping to maybe do so in March when it gets a bit warmer. Our primary goal is eggs then meat. I'm not into different breeds.... yet. Maybe in the future I'll narrow it down to a few breeds I want.
Anyone watching the Sochi Olympics? I used to watch the summer and winter Olympics but now, not so much. I do, however, pay attention to the Shockers basketball. They are doing awesome!
Stay warm everyone. Lets hope for some warmer weather and sunshine.
Josie,
Maybe Lucy knew that was for giving her a bath and she was showing you she didn't want a part of it.

I used to get so angry. When I'd get packages the mail man would set them on the front porch and lay the mail in a rubberband on top of the package. The packages would disappear if they were small and the mail would be blowing all over the county. I now have a big storage box out by the mailbox for packages to go into. The dogs have matured and don't tend to chew up much anymore but it's comforting to know where it all is.
I've rarely had the roosters fight but you are all right. Adding a stranger into the group causes some real battles. I need to make a pen strictly for back up breeding roosters and I think I am going to put pinless peepers on them when I do just to try to circumvent any possible fighting.
As for the Tom's they do fight like crazy during breeding season. I noticed my bourbon Tom displaying yesterday a lot and he sure hasn't been. Then I noticed that one of the midget hens has the feathers chewed off her neck obviously from being bred. Whether the weather refuses to cooperate, the birds say it is time for spring to begin. One of my two Midget Toms had his snood completely ripped off by another Tom. It happened before I picked my breeders but I kept him because he was one of two with the best overall shape. My two midget Toms coexist without a lot of fighting cause they've always been together, but during mating season they don't get along as well. Still if I let them out they are up fighting with the bourbon red Tom at the fence.
