I left the lid to the brooder open today and here's what happened...

one brave chick flew to the edge...


others climbed out...




after a while almost all the chicks were trying to fly out...

my nieces climbed in to say hi


then we decided to let them run.. (im sure you can guess why we had the windex out)








The chicks went back to their brooder and had a lot to talk about the rest of the day

Butcher falls is the largest waterfall in kansas infact there are 3 waterfalls with in about 15 -20 mile radius its kind of fun to see them all butcher falls is on 99

between moline and sedan at red buffallo ranch (its free and open to the public untill dark they even have cabins at the exorbant prive of 90+ a night

The last post was a smaller water fall in sedan ks with in a few miles of the larger one at a park called the hallow.. its fed by an undergroundcreek so the smaller one only flows after a good rain or so im told..

I didn't know about those at all.

I left the lid to the brooder open today and here's what happened...

Trish, my four guineas that free range aren't all boys but lately they've been spending all their time yelling through the fence to the other group. I keep thinking I should just let them in. They've started sleeping on top the pens now instead of going in at night so I'm afraid they are going to get picked off. This group has free ranged for 4 years though and survived so I hope they don't get eaten by owls. they normally do go in the pen with the chickens at night but they slept in the tree all summer last year. I've honestly never seen my male guineas fight much. They will pick on a new comer relentlessly but in their group they seem to get along other than an occasional peck. Sure as I say that they'll start fighting now.
I overslept this AM and now I'm way behind in things to do. I have to take eggs to town today and pick up a couple things. I want to stop and see my sister as well. That means I will get absolutely nothing done today. I've got to try to find something to use to brood chicks in as well. I have some new ones being shipped next week and don't have a place to put them.

It was kind of fun looking at the chick pictures. I do my own all the time but I haven't had several of those breeds for awhile.
I had kind of a busy day today. I had to dismantle part of a pen and drag a panel across the yard and work it into one of the chain link pens to make it into two pens. I was planning on using half of it for a breeder pen. But the two BR Tom turkeys were fighting and the young one was getting torn up and bloody. So I had to make some quick shelter and move him to the pen I was setting up. Every time I think I have an open pen or two something else has to get moved into it.
Tweety I know it would be confusing but can't you just buy a new phone with your provider and keep the same number on the current plan? They could discontinue service to the one he lost. I lost one one time and that is what I did.
I also found a hole in the netting on one of the hoop coops. Not sure what happened there but if the dogs didn't notice a predator it could get in there. I meant to put some hardware cloth along the bottom of the pen but ran out of time and energy. Hopefully I'll get it done tomorrow.
I need to find the time to build my new little breeder coop too. I haven't even started on it yet.

I'm not sure if we will be able to use the same number or not. When I talked to the guy at the store, they didn't give us that option. I thought since the number is tied to the SIM card that he will need a new number. At any rate, I hope he is able to keep it. If not, I'm sure he can send out a mass email or txt to all his customers. He confirmed that he did back up all his numbers to the ipad so that's good.

I love waterfalls. In our old house, my DH built a water for our koi pond. He is thinking of building one here now that we have acres of land for him to play with.

Bigger pond means it needs a bigger waterfall... but I'm sure it is no where near as big as the ones you have posted. Glad you share the info with us. We may go visit one of these days.
