Consolidated Kansas

StinkyChicken, my chickens love digging through what I dump out from my rabbit cage trays. By the time they get through it's all broken down. I don't put the dirty litter from the main coop where they dig through it, I have a compost pile in another place & they don't seem too interested in digging in there. However, my GP lily likes to lay in it because I think it heats up when it starts breaking down, crazy dog.

Boy speaking of GPs, we came home last night after being gone shopping all day & both of them stunk to high heaven, they had gotten sprayed by a skunk & they reeked! Lily had been rubbing her face in the mud because her whole head was muddy.

I'm starting some cooking and need to get out and give the birds a thorough feeding and watering and check. Yesterday was very scant in the care department. We just have a muddy lake for a yard and I really don't want to be out there sliding around. I think it was HeChicken that was bringing in horse poo for her chickens to compost. I have a friend who has plenty of cow poo but I don't really want to go shovel it and it's too far to drive the tractor.

Thought I would drop in between cleaning and preparing, to say Merry Christmas to everyone!

Hope everyone is well and feel blessed for what is around us

It's nice to enjoy some down-time 2 days I don't have to do anything but enjoy my family.

Although, I may need break from enjoying my three very excited little boys, and go out and enjoy the chickens! I know I'm not the only one for whom the birds are 'feather therapy'.
I am itching to get some babies, the last batch are getting big. I had three out of four that are now about 10 weeks, two boys, one of which I just caponized, and the other needs done now that it is aparent he is a he. The other is a sweet little full buff brahma pullet.

I am waiting anxiously for Rocky (I was sure she was a he, and I'm a RHPS fan) to lay, sure hoping for that little blue egg soon! Rocky is special to me since she was the only survivor of a hatch that lost power on day 17. She hatched out on my birthday (a 30th b-day present to myselft!) and became my most expensive bird!

Well I better go make that peppermintbark I promised the kiddos!
