This would've been my ducks. My chickens aren't quite old enough to lay yet. I'm betting I've got a goose nest around here somewhere that I haven't found yet as well...

Lizzy lol i guess Danz leaves her tv on in the brooder on the Karate Chicken channel first day out in the main coop and mingling with me sitting by and Sapphire karate kicks one of my 19 wk old Barred rock hens and sent her running out of the coop

Soo guys Im thinking Wonky is a rooster I tried posting the video of his rooster crow like behave but I guess we don't allow videos ....Also Danz any Chance Blue Diamond your big project color hen I picked up is egg laying egg cause Im 99% sure Wonky just mated her or at least tried too. Though he seemed to say on there long enough to get the job done....

I doubt she's laying yet but that won't keep a cockerel or rooster from breeding them. Boys will be boys.

I have some potatoes, radishes, lettuce, carrots onions, garlic(from the fall) and two giant cabbage out. My son got the cabbage from school. It's for a scholarship project put on my Bonnie plants. I'm keeping the cabbage covered at night still.

It depends what you are planting! I planted garlic in the fall that is looking terrific already. Last week I planted chives, shallots, onions (seeds) and some greens like kale, chinese cabbage and collards in the outdoor card. I've started tomatoes, peppers and eggplant inside in pots - those will be transferred outside mid to late April, once the danger of last frost appears to be over. Potatoes typically get planted on St. Patrick's Day but I'm taking a break from potato bugs this year so they are not in my garden plan.

Today I'm really happy I haven't jumped on getting the garden planted. First white Easter I ever remember for sure. i have garlic I planted in the fall that looks wonderful. Peas and potatoes are usually the early plants but I don't plan to plant either of those. I just hope it doesn't get so muddy I can't work the soil again soon. I plan to plant most of my garden in mid-April. I may hold off on Tomatoes a bit longer cause I don't want to chance a frost on them.
I worked hard all day yesterday but it was those little projects that seem to take forever. I got a brooder repaired so I can put the goslings up in it. It's much easier to clean up after them if their poo doesn't collect beneath them. I started removing and cleaning items from the old trailer. The mice have destroyed literally everything in there. I just want that thing hauled out back so I can strip out the usable products from it before I torch the remains. I plan to take the aluminum siding, maybe some of the electrical wiring and lights. I'll let DH have the frame to do what he wants with. The windows are all pretty much inoperable but might save some of those for future coop plans or something. I can't really strip it out until it gets moved though. I will be so happy to have it out of here and have my view opened back up. Heaven knows when that will happen though.

Good grief. 2" of snow? 36 degrees?

One of the Orp hens stuck her head out about 8 and looked around. She turned around and went back in the coop. If a hen can look disgusted, she did.

My daughter and 2 kids have been here all week. Lina (7) has been working with my 2 week old chicks. They are really calmer now. She is very gentle with them and reminds me to fix them eggs now and again. Yesterday we had 6 kids and various parents here for early Easter, and the kids were all absolutely entranced with the chicks. Of course, they all preferred the ONE yellow chick -- presumably a Breda Fowl splash. She was dodging into corners every time someone came in the door. I heard Lina tell her 10 year old cousin to "handle them gently, they are delicate." Even the 2 year old knew how to "pet them with one finger."

I've decided to use leg bands on the chicks I think are male (the Campines) so I can tell if I was right later.
