Consolidated Kansas

I'm not seeing yolk in that - to me it just looks like the whitish type poop that is normal. I wouldn't worry at this point unless you start to see a lot of poops that look like this.

Thank you everyone I'm heading to my vet right now with her im hoping its, nothing but yea. Will keep you posted. Also Danz figured i would go ahead and take sneezing as well. Will post results when I have them.

Dani what on earth did you find? That is a quite a lot of blood. Was this from an older bird or is this from chicks? I hope your bird is okay.
I had quite a busy day yesterday. My fruit plants came and I spent the afternoon planting. Lots and lots of big holes to dig and even more small holes. I planted an additional 10 grapevines, 10 blueberry plants, and 10 current bushes. The currents were the worst with huge root systems. Then I planted 100 strawberry plants. I pretty much filled my old garden area with these even planting the strawberries way too close together. I've done that before then after they are established and done fruiting for the year I have moved them out further. Makes caring for them a little easier when they are young. I still have my garlic out there and there is space at one end I could move some of the strawberries later. I got rained on some while I was out there but it almost felt good because I was drenched in sweat earlier.
I have someone wanting to buy my pheasant breeders. I was tempted but I told them they had to wait until my orders were filled. I guess my mentality is that I didn't feed them for two years, particularly over winter, to sell them for a prayer. They are the one thing I have thought about selling but I do love them. They're so calm and pretty.
We got some more rain last night but no major storms as they were predicting. They all went south to Oklahoma. I can't say I'm too disappointed. I was actually hoping for a little more rain just to water in my new plants. It looks plenty muddy out there though.
I noticed that Sutherlands has their trees on 1/2 price Saturday again. I would be tempted to drive over to Emporia and see what I can pick up on the cheap. I need more trees in my goose pen. I would of course have to choose something that grows pretty fast and protect it from them for a year or so. It would be a bonus if I could find something that produces fruit as well but they probably wouldn't be great shade trees.
I've got to go help a friend dig up a lilac bush this afternoon. That should be a trip. I know we will probably only get some starts off the outside but I guess I will help anyway. I was surprised I could even get out of bed after all that digging yesterday.

Danz,
One of my Phoenix/Welsummer girls from my orginal flock hatched on Nov 16th. With my vet now there was NO BLOOD in the sample at all and he took it from the top of the carrier which is in the pic above. There were also no parasites and no issues in it that he can see. We will be checking the chicken next. Also he thinks like I did that most likey Onxy is allergic to chicken dust but will do a deep check of her as well.

Oh my, Dani! Let us know what you find out at the vet's!

Danz - digging lilacs after planting all of that! wow! i'm impressed!

I got some horizontal nipples in for the chickens on Monday. I drilled some holes in a gallon milk jug ( 2 nipples) and a half-gallon milk jug )1 niple) on Tuesday and put them in for my chicks. The chicks are using them nicely, and the water is staying so much cleaner! I've been dealing wiht leaks though... not with the nipples themselves but on the jug. Apparently, the gallon milk jug I chose wasn't the best choice. It's got a pinhole leak on the bottom and a split near the handle. I've been filling it only halfway because of the split near the handle and discovered the pinhole leak this morning. GRRR! Apparently, I need to upgrade to a 5 gallon bucket sooner than I thought. At least the horizontal nipples are working well, even if the milk jugs are proving to be flimsy. I might have to see if I can swap out the milk jug for another one to get me through 'till I can pick up a 5 gallon bucket I can use... Oddly enough, the 1/2 gallon jug is working splendidly.

Ok so news back from my vet,

Phoenix appears to have just eaten something that gave her red poo she is going to isolated just to be sure and to watch and make sure her stools firm back up

Onxy appears to be allergic to pine which doesn't surprise my vet at all he never suggest keeping chicks or chickens on pine because it has so many oils and can cause resp problems just by being used. So she will also be isolated on non pine to confirm foe the day.

I was already planning on changing out my coop from pine to sand so that will just happen today rather then this weekend.

That's really good news. I personally never use cedar for that reason but this is the first time I've heard of pine being an issue. I wonder how many chicks I assumed were sick when they just had allergies.
For the record @Dani4Hedgies and I were discussing the bird that was sneezing. She had never been on pine before. I had her in the brooder bins which I only use shelf liner in and then moved her to a hoop coop where there is no bedding. It makes sense she wouldnt' show allergies until she had pine for bedding.
You learn something every day.

Great news! Very interesting about the allergies!

Ok so Phoenix is back to pooing normal someone in fb asked me about if there was a chance that she could have gotten ahold of berries. And I checked where "wild" strawberries grow every year in my yard up on a hill. Which was the hill she was forging on all by herself for several hours yesterday. Yep I found only a couple berries even though the entire hill is covered with the plants which are clearly big enough to have grown berries. Soooo we believe that she gored herself on the strawberries which then gave her the dark red poo that lighted to dark pink lighter pink bearly there pink and now back to normal. Chickens gotta love em even when they try to drive you crazy.

Also we have confirmation that Onxy is allergic to pine. My hubby dumped all the pine bedding out of the coop into the backyard and which of course all the flock was taking "dust baths" in well Onxy now hadn't sneezed since I took her out of coop this morning at 8am. So at 1500 I brought her out to the backyard and she ran over to the pine pile that everyone was bathing in and the second she had her beak lower to the pine she started sneezing like crazy. She then ran about 5 ft away to where normal dirt was and stayed pecking the ground and everything was great then. After about 30 mins she ran back over to the pile of pine abd sneezing fit started all over again. Then she ran over to the dirt and no sneezing so yep Onxy is allergic to pine.

Well I have learned a few new things today and its always good to know your chickens are in perfect health even when they are showing weird signs.

I tend to freak when I hear a chicken start sneezing unless I have just fed them. Many of them sneeze when they dive into their food. Understandable for sure. So I'm questioning myself what might be the safest option for absorbent bedding that doesn't tend to mold and would still be budget friendly.
Funny thing is I am very allergic to pine and almost any kind of evergreen tree. Both the pollens and the sap. I've noticed when using shavings that some brands are much drier than others. Perhaps those would be safer to use. Just thinking out loud here.
I think I did too much yesterday. Today I tried to work but it was cold and windy and I hurt all over. I just didn't seem to get much done.
