Hello. I have a heated bird waterer that I hang inside the coop.i cut out a hole in the floor right under the waterer. I then filed it with rocks and put hardware cloth over the hole. That way if it spills the water will go down the hole to the ground and not stay in the coop. The hardware cloth keeps critters out and the chickens in. So far it has worked well. No wet straw, ice or mildew.
I just did the same thing. I love it! Thank you for the suggestion

Good afternoon all from Shawnee,KS. I have two male ducks that I am trying to find a new home for. They were born this spring. My daughter brought them home from the feed store. I have 10 chickens and really don't want the ducks. They are so messy!

@anga1970 You might go to the Kansas FB groups & put an ad up. I run a couple there, but they won't let me put up links on here. If you want them you can message me.

@anga1970 , Unless you have to keep them penned why don't you just let the ducks free range. They are the best at keeping the bug population down.
I'm starting to get people inquiring about chicks already. Sure hope this is a better year than last year. I'm still planning to do more downsizing. I eliminated another breed last week. Still a few more to go.

Hello Kansas peeps!
I just found this thread, and I’m glad it’s still going.
