Consolidated Kansas

I had to go to Wichita today and it was beautiful out. Then that cold air rolled in and in short order, the rain.

We were talking about the incubator the kids and I are making and my Grandmother said something about absolutely no one in Wichita owning or having any interest in chickens.

So do all of you with Wichita listed really hail from Eastborough?

Ha ha - your grandmother is almost right though - there seem to be VERY few of us. Nope, not in Eastborough. I'm surprised the Republic of Eastborough would allow chickens....

I don't know for sure about Eastborough, but I imagine more is allowed or at least done there than most would realize. I used to love babysitting jobs there.

I'll bet there are plenty more in Wichita who have a few hens, but they assume they're not allowed, so they don't advertise they have them. My Grandmother goes to the DAV almost daily, so she's on the lookout for a wine cooler for us to convert over.

Hi Kansas Board,

Wow I really thought being out in the middle of the country and near one of the larger cities that more people would own chickens. We just moved from the "city" into the "country" (5 minutes away from our old house). We now have almost 2 acres and a wood shed that was calling out to be made into a chicken coop.

We got our 10 chickees today and the kids (mostly the boys) are enthralled with them. They let them out of their pens and think it's funny that poop on the floor so much, LOL~!!! I have no idea how many hens or roosters I got, I really hope my 3 neighbors don't mind if the roosters crow a lot, LOL.

Well hope to chat with all of you soon or later. Where is everyone from in Kansas?

Liz
