Just visiting. I like that take on things.

I'm headed to Wichita tomorrow afternoon and I've got 2 PQ black Silkies about 6wks old to give away. No idea on sex. I've also got a handful of roos or what I think are roos about the same age that can go. All crosses between a Buff Brahma roo and either a RIR or BR. The BB x BR are sexlinks, so I know they are roos. The BB x RIR I'm just guessing are roos. All feather legged. Hopefully they'll be gentle giants like their daddy. Taking Hwy 400. If anyone's interested, let me know.

Hooray, another Wichitan! I've had my 3 chicks for 2 months now, and tomorrow they're finally going to move into their outdoor coop and quit living in the kitchen!

What kind of chickens do you have? How many?

I have 5 chicks that are approx. 3ish weeks. Their names are Tweety, Abby, Lucy, Gerty, and Daisy. I'm not sure what breeds they are. I think they are just mixes but we love them just the same. We still need to build the coop. We have our plans all made out and just need to build it now. I will be putting together a temporary run for the daytime tomorrow and they will come in for the night. Here are some pics of our babies.

Ooh, you've got a couple of the feathered-feet ones! (not that I know what they are - hah!) You all-yellow one with the bare feet looks just like my Anne did a few weeks ago, and the BYC consensus is that she's an Amber Sex-link (a RIR hybrid). She's the light-colored one in my photo. I think she's very pretty -- fluffy and sort of an apricots-and-cream color. I am far, far from an expert on any of this, but your chick in the first photo looks a lot like my Emily (my reddish-brown one), and I believe she's a Golden Sex-link (another RIR hybrid). I'm with you, I don't really care what kind they are except for curiosity. Where did you get yours? I got mine at TSC on E. Kellogg.

We had ours in a big dog crate in the kitchen for the last two months, and I already miss letting them out to run around my feet while I drink my morning coffee. I was letting them outside in our fenced back yard every day, and they moved out there permanently yesterday. My only problem is my dogs - they're WAY too interested in the chickens, so now I have to tie them out (the dogs) when I let them out in the yard with the chickens. Gotta figure out how to divide up the yard! ;-)

Good luck, have fun, and keep coming back here!
