Not sure what I can do but thought I'd ask. I keep my 3 chickens in an A-frame type coop. The have a 4' x 7.5'' enclosed run under the coop which they seem to like to keep nice an clean as they all are going up into the coop to poop! The result is I need to clean the coop about every 3-4 days. My first mini-flock did not do this and I only cleaned the coop around every 7-8 days. I started closing up the coop during the day but they should start laying in a couple weeks so this is not a permanent solution. I let them run the whole yard during days when I am home. But when I work I restrict them to the run. Any ideas?

Are you sure the poop in the coop isn't merely from their roosting all night there and not that they're going back in to do it?


Put a tub or something down in the run with shavings for them to lay in. Put a wire floor or removable tray under the roosts for all the nightly poop.
