Ivywoods and CCarter- the law in Olathe is NO livestock but someone has found loop holes, I saw their post not too long ago on here. When I lived there I lived on 2 acres and my neighbor across the street had chickens forever but I was told they were Grandfathered in-we all live at 119th and Nelson and there was about 80 acres behind us that was just woods but now its a housing development.
I know that Roeland park is now arguing about all this and continued the vote into this month, some lady got her chickens taken away from her and the neighbors are freaking out that if they allow a few chickens, whats next a cow in the yard lol. I agree with no roosters but no one would even know if there was hens-the people are also trying to say that they dont want the smell lol-what smell? Yet your neighbor can have 2 big dogs in a yard-talk about smells lol. So many people need to educate themselves before running their mouths. What I also find funny is that I know several people in Roeland Park that have exotic birds (parrots, Macaws, etc) and no one says anything about all the noise that comes from those birds-I love them but they can scream. I would want my neighbor to have a few chickens over any of those birds.
