72 was the high in Oskaloosa, it already dropped back down to 71 now. We must be livin some kinda right, to get a day like this in February... Makes a fatman wanna go fishin

High or low this weather is fantastic; even if I have to wash muddy eggs!
Today the neighbors called two dogs broke loose didnt want me to shoot them. Wish they understood that I dont live in my home I am out daily. And I see their dogs loose all the time. But since you called I will call as I load the shot gun. On the PS their dogs have killed multiple chickens on multiple dates; and there is always an excuse. They dont have money for gas to come look for their loose dogs, but do have money (bummed from a friend) to go buy cigeretts.
Ok Wow what a great day God has given us! My chickens seem to be going into a major egg explosion. There is no snow on the garden so if we are dry a couple of days I am going to till and plant the first spring greens. I am sure most of you have your favorites. For me mustards, spinich, callards ( Fried grass) and any dish that you can think of! Oh my goodness in the season of renewal how can anyone think of dysfunction! On a day this beautiful this fantastic, I hope that all of you an overide a little negative for a lot of positive!

Hello all. I hope this is the right place to post this. I havn't had time to look over all the different threads so far.

I'm in the process of building my coop now. Should be done very soon. So obviously I've never owned chickens before. I think for my first round I would like to start with pullets. The problem is I can't find anyone around that sells them. Is this common? Do I have to start with chicks?

I live just outside Topeka. Where would you guys reccomend getting my chickens from?

Another rookie question, but you just show up and people have chickens for sale?

I'm not real particular but I think I like Barred Rocks, Black Autralorps, and maybe Orphintans. I'm looking for 6 total I think.

And that may be too soon, unless I can keep them in a pen in my garage for a bit. I was hoping to build the coop this weekend.
