Consolidated Kansas

So I saw a post a couple of pages back about the chick sale at Valley Feed but does anybody know what price range they'll be or if they're from a good hatchery?

I've known several folks who got birds there who were unhappy with their birds as they grew out. What are you looking for? We can help!

ByNature Mike- tell your son I finally have a Lavender Orp chick for him.

Everyone: I have a batch of Light Sussex x Partridge Chantecler chicks that came from me checking for purity a bit too soon.

They will be huge birds fit for meat or eggs, with little-to-no comb and good cold weather resistance.

They appear to be feathering out a Silver Double Laced Partridge with white legs and FAST growth. I think these would be fabulous for meat, as both breeds are known for that (but I'm partial to eggs, personally

). They'll lay a light brown egg, as both Sussex and Chantecler lay a pinkish light brown large egg.

I have about 10 of these, and they are 10 days to 16 days old. Anyone interested?

I also have pairs of Blue/Black/Mottled Bantam Cochins, varying ages, some Frizzled.

I also have one pair of Bantam Salmon Faverolles, one month old. Very nice birds!

One more hybrid I'm working on: GIANT Black Orpington over Partridge Chantecler. Very similar to the Sussex x Chantecler bird, again, a quick-growing dual purpose bird with little to no comb with cold weather tolerance. These are very docile and lovely.

Feel free to ask questions, as these birds are priced to MOVE!

Well MikeKsFarmer has gotten most of his birds from Alan an I tell ya I haven't hear one complaint from him about those birds. granted they aren't fancy things like yours , but still great birds.
Last time I talked to Alan the price was like $2 or $2.50 dont quote me on that especially with our wonderful gas prices . Alan lives in Laycene.

pshaw! Fancy!

I think that's the point I was trying to make, not that his birds are bad birds, or anything scary...just that they are not breeder or show quality. Perhaps I should have stated that I had heard his birds were healthy, but hatchery quality. That would have been more objective.

(grumble, grumble, grumble...fancy!...hmmmph!)

My Friend I live about 2 miles from the feed store. They are hatched from many different flocks of Mennonites in Mo and KS. My Welsummers are awesome and lay the darkest brown eggs and the birds are so handsom. The prices are in general equal or lower than other places. Chicks are $2.50 or less and turkeys are like 6 or 7 Geese are $8 I think. But do call and ask. You dont have to get a minimum order you can buy 1 bird if you want. No shipping! The guy is there to sell birds, I found he either dosent know how to sex an welsummer or country folk that believes in sexers. He does sell sex linked birds that are for sure pullets. But he also sells bantums and geese, turkeys and guinees.
