Renee, these look great. Since I don't live anywhere near Lawrence, I thought I'd google them to see if I could find anywhere closer to me that sells them. When I searched on either Sake Bin or Sake Barrel, it took me to barrels of the Japanese Rice Wine called....Sake (pronounced sah-keh, rather than the one syllable word "sake") which made me wonder if maybe that was the original purpose of the barrels you buy? In any case, I wasn't able to find anything like them anywhere else online and don't recall seeing them in person either. Ah well, guess I'll just have to plan on spending a day in Lawrence one of these days, pick up some of these, get some feed from you and so on

Yes, you're right- I guess I should have clarified that these are from Sake (Rice Wine- I pronounce it SOCK-y) that a Japanese restaurant uses for cooking. It's an item they don't often get in at the Bargain Depot, and he's apparently had trouble getting them lately- and everyone wants them!

If you want some, let me know how many, because they'll call me when they get in and they'll be gone in a flash- he had 250 of them purchased in one day last time. I'll just buy them and you guys can pay me back.

Wondering if these are anything anyone could use for feed storage or something else? The bidding ends tomorrow afternoon, so not a lot of "think it over" time left.

As I understand it - each barrel is about 24" wide and 30" tall. Made to ship things in so should be sturdy, and there are 16 of them in the lot and at this point it is at $150.

I am sure I could come up with lots of uses for them, but my usual problem is the going to get them.

If you are unaware of the gov auctions, check out other things. Some interesting things show up on there.

If you go to Alibaba.com there are a lot of the same wide mouth barrel that I have, which are food grade. I think we could team up and get them $3-8 a piece...

S hitz with his new jewelry. Look closely you'll see the zip tie. He and the others don't seem to mind it. He's roosting on my arm. I got him to peck a piece of chick starter out of my fingers. We're pals.
