Thanks for all the compliments, I appreciate it. Several questions have come in since I posted the link to my coop. I will try and answer some of them.
I started the construction of the coop in the middle of October, but I started collecting all the materials about a month before that. At the end of January I tore my medial and radial meniscus and was out for about a month recovering from surgery. Using all the recycled materials make the thing look good but it does take a lot longer since you cant order the lengths you need, you have to take what you get.
Speaking of using pallets for building projects, there are a lot of pallets I used in building this thing. All of the nesting boxes were made from pallet scraps, the automatic feeder, wall covering on the inside of the coop, windows and doors will be made recycled pallets as well.
We live about 4 miles from the airport in Gardner, on 13.5 acres. The chickens are our fist adventure in raising animals for food, depending on how this goes I am sure we will have more varieties of animals in the future. I do know that any other animal we get will not have such a nice place to live. This thing has taken longer and cost more than I originally expected.
