well, my hatch went south. Sigh. Ah well. The lady that was hatching my silkie eggs- she only had ONE chick make it out of all the eggs she set. One other one hatched and then quickly died. I'm not going to just buy one chick, because if they don't integrate well with my chicks now- I was hoping for 3 chicks. She said she has someone that will buy it if I don't, so I gave it up. Actually, it's probably just as well since I really wanted a Blue or Black silkie anyway. And I think we'll just wait till spring and brood them by themselves at that time. If I tried again right now, it will put my current babies and new babies too far apart and I don't want babies in the winter by themselves. These were Lavender in color and I wasn't totally in love with them, but thought it might be unique.
Danz, think you can get a picture of your black roo and hen so I can see what they look like? I'm wishy washy about the black... thinking I really want Blue instead. BUT-- can you get blue out of a Black?? I know you can get black out of a Blue. I don't want anything until Spring now. I have whites right now-- I have no clue if I have pullets or roos- I'm hoping I have a pair. Can you get blue by crossing a white and Black? I have no idea how this works! LOL
Nothing got done on my coop yesterday. Ended up cleaning house and then playing with my horses before we had out company and bonfire outside. The kids had fun riding and messing with them, too. I'd really like to go riding again today! Sigh.
