I looked up the add and it says $150. Has he gone down on price? Ok, here is the deal: How much space would you have inside. What is the temperature range? Most of these lab incubators have a control panel that controls everything. It would depend on how that panel was set up to operate, if you could even use it without the CO2. If it is operated by a computer board most likely your only use would be the cabinet. If there is a separate dial to control the CO2 that will allow you to regulate it to 0 you might be able to use it. If it has a humidity control that would be helpful. If it has alarms on it that might be a problem. (Just an irritation) You could install a fan inside and perhaps vent it with the holes for the CO2 hook up. I would have to take a look at it to see if it is functional or not. I'd say the cabinet itself would be worth $50 if you want to install a fan, heat source, and thermostat. I'd have to see a better pic and know more about it before I could say.

Just got back.. The guy told me it was a 30" length kennel. So not Large, but it's not the small one, either. Probably the Medium. Anyway, I feel a little bad, I talked him down to $30 and he only used it for 3 months for his puppy and it looks brand new.

I drove down the road like 5 mins from my house to meet him at the gas station and he was a nice guy. Young guy (30's?) with Vet tags on his truck. Anyway, I now have a new home for miss Cocoa here and I'll get to moving her out of her box here in a bit. Right now, she is pretty content and I hate to move her until she's awake and alert again. I feel like she really needs her sleep.

Okay, so for the beak, I can do the superglue no problem. What about the position of it now? Do I really need to try to move it, or can I just glue it in place as it is??? I'm not sure what to do. It DOES move. But not a lot. It was more bendy when it first happened, and now it still moves, but is harder. What about all the blood on it? I tried to use a cloth to wash it off a day ago and she squaked and got upset and flappy. The pictures I posted are exactly what it looks like right now. Do I need to 'set' this beak?? Wash it?? There is a bit of beak kind of sticking out, too-- like a splinter. Sigh. What a mess her beak is.

I'd just glue it like it is and not mess with it as long as it is in a fairly normal position. Let mother nature do the rest.

Danz-The add says $150 on the listing, then when you open it up it says $50. I've read where CO2 incubators can be used for eggs, but I think it would take some modifications. Even at that, the stainless steel is probably worth $50. in scrap. It sounds to me like they hold a very constant temp. Sure wish I could go get it, but I need to get another big incubator like I need another hole in my head.

The only add I found doesn't have squawk except a phone number. No price inside. I certainly wouldn't use CO2. I think it would need to be mixed with oxygen and at any rate that could get expensive. The cabinet would be very tight and that would hold the heat really well. Sure wish he had put more info in the add.
I used to spend at least an hour daily on Craigslist but haven't been there in weeks and weeks. I guess that means I have everything I need! Yeah Right!

I sat out in the sun this afternoon and took some pics, since I was home with a fever and major GI trouble.Yesterday I was too sick to hold my head up. I hang out at a place filled with about 450 germy little kids, so it's no wonder I pick up a bug now and then.

This is one of my mystery chicks from Atwoods. Looks like a cochin roo to me. The other one in the second picture looks almost the same, but more solid black. I think the lacing on the first one is pretty.
The black one without bright red decorations is my Jersey Giant. The rest of them were sold as Ameraucanas (EE's more likely).
Here's the white EE from the previous picture acting VERY roosterish. I'm not certain what the little guy is, but he's a bantam- Belgian Danver, maybe???? I'm just guessing, based on photos. Here's another picture of him. I hope he doesn't crow too loudly, because he's such a sweetie, I would really like to keep him. I probably won't be able to, though.
I got the Buff orps. Sept 24, maybe a week or less old, so they're probably 12-13 weeks old now. What do you think?? Boys or girls??
Just for grins, here's Helga. She is a Sussex/Chantecler cross who has discovered a big pot of soil on the deck (the plant died long ago). So...

I think your Buff Orps look like girls... at least right now?? I think you might be right with the others. That bantam is CUTE!!! I hope you can keep him too! If he's like my silkie.. maybe he won't crow too loudly? Except for those super crystal clear mornings where everything is still and all the sound is amplified. You might be in trouble then.

It's kind of hard to tell from the pictures, but you are probably right about the bantam. The "ameraucanas" are definitely easter eggers. If the tall black one is the one you were thinking was a cochin I think he is way too tall and upright for a cochin, but perhaps he is a langshan.

It was a nice, sunny day. I ended up getting most of my Christmas shopping done, as well as getting all the things we need to finish a room in the basement...studs, sheet rock, suspended ceiling and carpet. I'm eager to get that room done!

I'm going to fire up one of my GQF's today. I will set eggs tomorrow. I only have about a dozen eggs saved up to set. I hope I don't regret trying to raise chicks through this winter. I just am so eager to get started hatching!

msjfrizzle - your screen name reminded me of the cartoon series the kids used to watch "The Magic School Bus". I had to check and it is still going. Ahhhh, the years of getting a higher education by way of watching kid shows. LOL That was a fascinating show.

Oh, chicken related - A little banty cochin cross is laying eggs that are almost LF hen size and darker than most of the cochin eggs and nice and round. A surprise for me, until I remember that there may be a BCM in her parentage. Gotta get that camera fixed........
