Holy heck Daren! Your game birds look like exotic paradise birds! I've never seen a red golden pheasant before! WOW!! I loooooove those bob whites! They are so darned cute! This shows my ignorance about them-- what is the curly things coming out of their beaks/noses? I'm guessing they are the birds that sing the 'bob white' call? I've heard the call, never actually been able to locate the bird! I'm guessing they are down in the brush and hidden. Your california valley quail-- I had to chuckle-- over the little feather that sticks out-- it's beautiful! Looks kind of like royalty. Sheesh... people eat those beautiful things??!
Ivy, we haven't heard anything else about Boeing... but I'm guessing they will release a statement near the middle of Jan. That would make sense financially for their stocks to be well out of the last year. I expect they will address all the rumors and the press release at that time and confirm or deny. I'll be crossing my fingers for good news.
That is so wonderful your boys get along and you all had a great holiday with them! Times to cherish and hold on to.
Danz, I'm worried about your hand! I know you're trying to be careful, but we've already established you're as clutzy as I am-- which means you're really going to do something bad to it. Sigh. I hope you can cover it for a while when you are working at least. Exciting about Marshmallow! Maybe we could all take bets on how many pups she has!
checoukan, greetings! Hope you had a fun xmas! I'm going to run down to Girard tomorrow to see my uncle tomorrow. My DH is staying here and working around the house and watching the kids so I can enjoy my mini-trip. We're going to go eat at Chicken Annies either down in Pittsburg or Girard. There is an antique mall in Pittsburg that I want to visit while I'm going to be down there.
Chooks-- I want to see this brooder! It sounds awesome! Post a pic! I might want to build something like this. I'm having a tough time envisioning it, though. I get the general idea. Sounds like it's working out really well for you!
Well... not much here. Picked up more chicken feed today, everyone is doing great. My little WCB Polish pullet that got her head scalped by my turkey-- her head is all filled in with little pin feathers! Some of them are longer than others. I think her crest will be filled out in no time! How should I re-introduce her? I'm thinking next week?? Will they all be okay with her? She looks just like the other Polish, do you think they can tell her apart??
Seymore (turkey) ran over to my neighbors, and I'm lucky they have a very nice black Lab, because she would have been turkey lunch for sure. She strutted right up to her (the dog) and my neighbor said she came out and picked up my turkey and brought her back home for me and stuck her in the pen (that I don't use anymore). Anyway, I heard all of this tonight. My neighbor came over for about an hour or so and we chatted. She is a great neighbor, and how awesome that she would pick up my bird and bring her back! Okay... so now I've got to decide what to do with Seymore! Apparently when we're not home, she is roaming the property. Which is baaaaaad. (for her) She's going to end up being turkey dinner. Sigh. I'll have to think of something. Probably best solution is to get more wire and put it above the horse stall and try to keep her from flying out. What a PITA she can't go in the coop.
