Wow it has taken me quite awhile to catch up on reading on here, I got behind.
IVY, I'm so glad they found the problem with your DH & he is doing so much better! That has to be such a relief for both of you. Congrats on the new chicks too. My Lavender Ameraucanas still aren't laying, I just don't think they have enough light in where they are. I don't have any more places to plug in anything else so I guess I'll just have to wait it out until it gets warmer & I can take the tarps off the sides of the run they're in. I would love to have some eggs from them, but sigh, I guess I'll have to be patient. I think one at least of the BC Marans is laying, but the eggs aren't very dark, do they get darker as they lay longer? They're pretty small eggs right now.
Danz, I sure hope you feel better soon, that stuff is the pits, it sounds just like what I had. It has taken me 2 wks to even mostly be over it. I still am blowing some stuff from my nose occasionally & cough in the mornings some to clear my lungs. My DH had it way before me & he said he doesn't feel like his lungs are still all cleared out. He is a runner & he said he was feeling like he was running uphill the other day.
Well on the Lily & Jasmine saga, it still continues. I had tried the board behind the livestock panel with just the very bottom corner square open for the chickens & as I said, they got through that too, so I was really angry with them. They spent a day with one on the chain in the yard & the other in the dog run. But unfortunately it didn't even make an impact because this morning I decided I might as well not put the board there, it was a big hassle for me & they could get through anyway. I finished feeding, letting everyone out, & gathering eggs this morning & while I was in the garage again the dogs both went into the run & coop. They give themselves away with all the noise they make in there. I ran them out of there & waited awhile after yelling at them so they wouldn't think they were being rewarded for being bad & then gave them both a huge bone to chew on. I can hear them arguing over something right now in the backyard. One must like the other one's bone better, who knows, they fight all the time over something or the other. If you could hear them every night when I put them in the dog run you would think they're killing each other. They bark & growl & carry on like it's a fight to the kill & then it settles down for the night. I can't imagine what anybody hearing that every night thinks. Anyway, I gave up & have ordered a shock collar, which I will try on Lily first since she is the most stubborn of all. I'll let you all know when it gets here & I try it. I just don't know what else to do with these dogs. I even quit filling my feeders in the coop because the food won't ever get to the chickens, the pups eat it. I feed the chickens at night when I put them in. That's about the only way I can make sure they get some food is when the pups are shut up in the dog run & the chickens can have some peace in their coop.
Our Poultry Swap is going like gangbusters, it's so thrilling to watch! We need two more members & we will reach 200, maybe today. I did have to remove one post so far that was a pet related post. Tonya & I are in agreement that we don't want it to become just another pet swap, there are far too many of those already. Our Poultry swap is unique & we want to keep it that way.
Well I hope all that are feeling crummy get better soon! We enjoyed the rain we got here, it was wonderful. It's been like a desert here & I was afraid nothing would be alive come spring if we didn't get some moisture. I hope everyone has a good day!
