Sorry, medawinks, but hens can be just as loud if not louder sometimes than roosters. Your neighbor is likely going to complain, but I imagine he'd complain about something anyways. So long as you are allowed to have them, don't worry about it. They'll eventually tell him the same thing they told him about the dogs.
I usually shred the silky meat into casseroles and such. Nobody really notices without the dark skin and bones. I skin them, then clean and dry the skins w/the feathers intact for someone that uses them for art/jewelry and stuff. Have 3-4 to do now.
We actually have 2 apple trees next to each other here and 2 at our other place. At the other place we started w/4 originally and I think what happened was instead of one of each making it, both of the same kind made it. No idea what he put in here, but they both look identical to me and well, never put on apples. Even if it's just a bunch or two, I usually have something by the 2nd year, this is year 5 for them I think here and year 12 at the other place. My DH also has wonderful nuggets like "It'll be x amount of years before you get fruit from it." and suggests waiting another year. Apparently in his universe, the longer you wait to plant it, the shorter the growth rate????
My DH is fun to mess with. For years I randomly changed all his programmed radio stations in his truck. He thought he had some electrical issue until one of the kids finally ratted me out.
