Where do you get oxine? I have never heard of it. I use Tek-Trol for my cleaning, even take it to the shows, and spray the coops down before I place my birds in. Where do you get it?

I was going to ask the same question. You guys swear by Oxine so much I decided to go ahead and order some. Do you have a favorite supplier?

We had goats for about an hour, we put them in the stud stall in the barn, the guy that delivered them said to put them in there and they would calm down and we could let them out. One came out over the top of 7 ft wood walls. My husband grabbed a rope went after it, and the children wanted to see the goats and opened the stud stall door to peak in and the other one came out at full speed.. They ran all over, my huband followed them about 1 12/ miles on foot with a rope (that was pretty funny to watch) then when the goats got tired the neighbor helped dh get them roped and loaded up and took it back to the guy where dh got the goats.

I saw this picture on another thread, I think this is what DH thinks of goats.
Is that picture for REAL? Was that photo shopped or are those goats really on the tree like that? If so... NO way Jose, I do not want goats!

Well, everyday, our nosey neighbor would watch Dad standing holding onto this goat's horns. They couldn't see my mom crouched down milking due to the tall grass growing up the chicken wire fences. Eventually their curiosity got the better of them and they came over to ask what Dad was doing each evening with the goats. Was this some new religion? Was he communing with the goats? Did he hope the horns had healing properties? My mom said "Oh no, we're milking the goat" thinking that explained it all, but the neighbor got this weird looking on her face and eventually said slowly...."he does know you don't get milk out of the horns doesn't he?" Well, Dad heard that and was so embarrassed he said "That's it - we're getting rid of those goats immediately". And that was the end of our goat-keeping endeavor.

Hawkeye, I sent that lady an email so will let you know if/when I hear back from you.
OMGosh-- that is a funny story about your mom and dad!! ha!

I hate this. I was to the point of tears. I am trying so hard to build some good breeding stock and have spent a fortune only to have things go wrong.
I really don't see that the basement air would be much different than the rest of the house. It isn't closed off per say and the heater and AC are down there. There is more air movement up here but that is the only difference. And there is a vent close to where I had them so they would be getting much the same.
There's a lot more dust down there cause I haven't managed to get it cleaned up.
I just talked to Ivy. Can't wait to see her. I need to change my plans a little and get my eggs to town early I guess.
DH is going after feed later this afternoon. Maybe the wind will calm by then.
I'm soooo sorry about your roo. Let us know how Ivy is doing!

Hawkeye-- Thanks for the info on the horse situation.
I just love the my 2 roos , and the sickles yes very stunning that pic doesnt begin to do these boys justice. I just really think it is barred and columbian but not sure where the yellow and sparatic maroon feather come from. I will have to get better pic

Here are a couple pic of my toms, they are very handsome
Love your turkeys!

That is really neat that the Oxine worked so well!! On my silkie site--- they say to mix up a bottle of Oxine before you go to a show and spray your coop down with it! I don't have any Oxine, but now I'm thinking I will have to get some!

Agree- who is your favorite seller and who is the cheapest!!

I ordered my Oxine from Lambert vet supply. It was the cheapest I could find and included the oxine in the jug and the activator in one order. It gets very confusing on sites that don't sell both together. Mixing it gets confusing as well if you aren't all up on metric stuff. I keep saying I will write it down every time I make it but I end up having to look it up again. I have a converter site bookmarked on my computer I have used for years that I use to do most of the conversions I need.
One nice thing about it is it lasts forever. I mix a gallon at a time which is only like about 1/3 cup of the liquid and maybe 2 tsp of the powder then the rest is water. It is good for about a week. Then I never use it full strength unless I am using a spray bottle. It virtually kills all bacteria including odors which I really appreciate when it comes to the birds.
I just dumped and reloaded the vaporizer with fresh oxine and water. I used the older stuff I had in there earlier to clean my hatcher.
It was great to see Ivy and Mike.
Checoukan there is an extra pullet in there. I had thought she was one of their offspring but I think she came in the my hatchery birds and is a young LF. You'll definitely will be able to pick her out. You can do what you want with her. You weren't charged for her. I didn't think I had any whi over black LF polish but she is just too lanky and doesn't have the right head for the bantams.
Ivy says she has made herself stay off of BYC until she gets this move done so she stays on task. I understand that but if it weren't for this I would never take a break. And I wouldn't have anyone to bounce things off of.
Ding Dong the witch is dead!!! I'm not saying how. Just showed up once too often. Let their be peace at the farm!!!

Yay!!! Good deal!! Just don't need something like that around. Just move on. Oh thanks for the extra bird. I may just let her run with the others that hang out under my other cages. Grounds crew as I call them. So you think she is LF? Sounds like oxine is something simular to Tek-Trol. That is what I have, and use in my cleaning. All you do is mix it with water. No powder involved with it.

Danz,
Congrats on the Ding dong!
I should have asked more questions before I ordered some Oxine, I ordered a gallon, didn't know I needed powder also. Several Old Timers on the other threads use it and love it. After that egg started sweating and exploded when I was getting it out of the incubator I decided to order some. Should be here any day.
