I've been out digging and stuff in the garden. Trying to get what I can out of it for now. When the pumpkin vines freeze for the final time I'll till it up. Anyway I finished digging my sweet potatoes and just had to share this! This sucker was over 15 inches long, 18 inches around and weighed 6.8 pounds. If you look carefully you can see the weight on the scale.I'd nver seen one even close to this size before. I made my own Sweet potato starts from some eating potatoes I got at the grocery store. I only had like 3 potatoes I cut up. I got a nice bounty of them. What would I have gotten if I watered them?

I am exhausted after all the garden work. I still have loads to hall in and clean up. The chickens are very very happy right now because they have a huge pile of pepper plants I pulled up with lots of leftover peppers on them.
I have a pile of watermelon too. The tomatoes put on some more green ones and I actually found one ripe on. I had picked most of the green ones off before that last freeze.

You're welcome Kansas Prairie, now that I think about it I've never seen anyone be cranky with each other on this thread and I'm thankful for that too. I don't like it when people get that way, we're all friends and it hurts when friends don't get along even when you're not one of the ones in the middle of it. I'm only on this thread on BYC, so I can't speak for other threads.
Maidenwolf, I'm so sorry you are dealing with illness too.
HEChicken, my dad can come anytime to come check it out but he's instructing us and I don't think the problem is obvious yet. There were a couple of outlets that had mysteriously quit working and now they're all of a sudden working again. Something strange is going on, I double checked all smoke detectors because it scares me. OMGOSH!!! Your little rooster crowing is SOOOO FUNNY!!! What's up with that? He's taking his job seriously already.
That's funny, Danz. I think you're right about the DH thing, but I can still growl a little. GRRRR. I so don't want to put in the new furnace. I wanted to wait until something big broke and it really needed to be replaced. This seems like such a little break, it's only a matter of fixing this tiny little piece of plastic and getting a good seal and it seems so wasteful to just switch them out for something so small. We have the fireplace in the living room and I have 2 space heaters, the kitchen only gets cold at night so as long as it doesn't get too cold I still have a little time. I'm just glad it's not 20 below.
I wasn't following this part too well, I didn't know about springs and push in holes. We just went around checking to see that all of the outlets are 120. I will definitely take a few of the outlets that have been misbehaving apart and check them out.
One more question. I have no idea what age or what kind of home you have. Do you have aluminum wiring? It is notorious for stretching and getting loose causing shorts. That is why they quit making it. Also when you are investigating make sure all the screws are down tight where the wires are attached. You obviously have a major short in your wiring and that is dangerous. These things can loosen up over time regardless so it doesn't hurt to check them any way. If I were closer I'd run over and trouble shoot for you. But I am sure you'd much rather see your Dad. Just remember to tell him I said hi!
Note to others. It's such a small world. I know Mammahen's dad and have known him for about 27 years. He is an awesome guy!!!
Oh Lizzy! Those are amazing pics!!!!!
I agree!
OMGOSH Hawkeye!!!! That's so scary, I'm so glad you will be okay and your kids were unharmed. I can't even imagine. I'm sure the sherriff could tell the driver wasn't telling the truth. What on earth was he thinking? Isn't it amazing what you can do when you just have to? Take it easy and get well soon.
I have 7 chicks hatched so far, I only helped the first one that had the taped shell. There are a few more in there already in pipped/zipping still. There are many eggs in there doing nothing though. It's kinda funny, but I put a thermometer in the brooder because I wanted to keep it extra warm for the one I removed from the incubator to help. I had the thermometer standing up against the side just leaning a bit. It's had been running in the low 90s and I was okay with that. Well, the chick knocked it down and would you believe that laying against the bottom of the brooder/tub it's exactly 99.5 degrees? I try to hard to keep the incubator at that perfect temp and here this is 99.5 by chance.
Congrats on the chicks! Sounds like you did great afterall!
I need to get busy, I'm supposed to be typing my dh's papers and they're sooooooo boring I can't hardly make myself do it. Wish me luck.
