HECHICKEN,

The odds are the FLAME SENSOR needs cleaned or is bad, or the flames are not igniting and getting to the flame sensor heated up. Is there a code? A certain number of flashes? What brand is it?
Here's how it works, the igniter lights the gas and each port should light in a certain order, then when the final flame at the opposite end of the ignitor heats up the FLAME SENSOR it should be fine. BUT if the flames don't make it to the FLAME SENSOR it will try again if it fails 3 times it will shut off the gas valve. OFten the Flame Sensor get what I'd call a glaze on it, cleaning it will put you back in business. The FLAME SENSOR is an important safety sensor, usually looks like a long nail with a wire going to it. If the flames are not going to each hole, they may be sooted up if the propane tank got low, could be dust, cleaning the tubes is more complicated and a gross mess if it's black and sooted up and you might want to call someone to clean it and check the pressures and orfices if the FLAME SENSOR isn't the problem. Turn it to EMERGENCY heat on the thermostate to check to see if it's lighting all of the tubes. Flame Senors are not expensive.

Hey I found a video on YOU TUBE that will be better than me explaining. Picture is worth a thousands words. Don't use sand paper on a flame sensor, use seel wool. Avoid touching the ignitor some are fragile.

Good luck and please be careful!

I used to mail aquatic plants myself. I made more money off of plants than any other pond supply.
Well my septic tank is pumped. He said it is functioning perfectly. But now we have to snake the house cause the blockage is in the house line. &*#@#! That means renting a power snake tomorrow. I can't do it so it will have to wait. I guess the laundry will wait as well. Yay! More sewage to look foward to. So do I clean the basement or wait until all the mess is over?? I think I am going to put the oxine to work down there at any rate.
Checoukan the single lateral is fine but it actually goes onto the neighboring property. It worries me. The guy who bought that property doesn't care but he is pretty old. If he would pass away I might have some problems. DH won't consider doing anything over there which I think would be a great place to pen more birds because of the fact we might have to replace the lines someday. I'd rather just do it and be done with it but have no idea what it would cost me. This whole set up is different than what you would normally expect. The septic tank is quite a distance from the house instead of close like most. I know at one time they tore down the original house and built this one but I don't know where it set for sure. I kind of think they used the original septic tank and just routed to it. I would have personally put it on the other side of the house if I were doing it. Who knows what the people were thinking back then.
I need to get moving and start getting the baby ducks to their new digs. I hate hatching ducks. It always stinks in the hatcher after ducks. I put probably another 18 duck eggs in today and I have 2 different types of chicken eggs to go in there the next two days.

Welcome to members COOP Group and Country Boy!

Well, last weekend was moving day for my baby chickens and ducks. I miss not having them in my garage, but my husband was VERY happy to have his garage back and get it all cleaned up. Ducks can make a smelly, wet mess and everytime they heard me in my kitchen, they would quack calling for me.

The chickens love their new coop, it is so much fun to see them being able to stretch their wings and fly and run around with the zoomies. I am also shocked at how they have no fear and try to follow me out of the run when I open the door. That is one difference I guess between my ducks and chickens! It also only took three days for all eight of them to learn that when the sun goes down, in the coop they go.

The merging the baby ducks with the older ducks was very stressful. I had been putting them in an X-Pen with in the big ducks pens periodically for a few weeks, I did try to introduce them the week before and boy all the biting and hissing. Scared me like crazy, plus I felt so bad because the newer ducks were little babies to me ( even though they are almost the same size as the adults ). I decided to put a barrier in the duck house so I could separate them, but they could all sleep together, and see each other, so I put the babies to bed before night fall. I ran an errand, and came back about 2 hours later, to find the babies swimming in the duck pool ( the barrier fell down ) and everybody living almost in harmony! I decided to put them all in bed together, none of them were very happy about it. We are now on day 5, last night for the first time, everybody, including the babies lined up to go to bed, I was so happy. I can tell they are not all comfortable yet but I think we are getting there.

I had a scare yesterday afternoon. In the middle of my backyard I found a pile of feathers, dark gray and white ones, good size. I did not go to close, but ran down to the pens and counted everybody. Everybody was accounted for. Had my husband check the feathers, there was no body just feathers. I have no idea what bird the feathers are from or what animal got the bird, but it was pretty scary. We do have hawks and owls. Our pens are covered.

Just emptied the hatcher. I have 42 dried ducks I moved out to the brooder pen. My darn bale of straw got wet so I sprayed it with oxine. I sure hope I killed any mold. I would hate to kill all these ducklings. I have several more pipped and some hatched and drying still on the hatcher. I had two that died while hatching and one that got stuck and is pretty crippled up. He might come out okay. Here are this mornings ducks.

Oh they are adorable! You are going to have your hands full!

Wow Danz, that's a lot of ducks! I hope you can sell them all. Do some people buy them to raise to eat? I really like duck, but never have tried to process one.

We just got back a little bit ago from our appt. & running errands & my DH is out working on the roof of the new coop. I hope he makes some progress today because this is the last day he will be able to work on it probably for awhile & I wanted him to get the roofing all on. We'll see how far he gets. I sure want the thing closed in before winter.

I've been trying to let my guineas & turkeys out a bit each day just to let them stretch some & eat some green stuff. The turkeys really enjoy being out & while I'm out there they tend to follow me around everywhere I go. I have not so far had too much trouble getting them back in except when they aren't quite ready to go back. I don't like to leave them out when I have to leave home for any reason, I just don't trust them to stay here & the dogs to leave them alone.

I'm getting some pullet eggs now, but I'm not sure which ones are laying them. Unless I catch them in the nest I won't know. They're all getting to the age they should be laying, but some are slower to start than others. I don't think any of my Speckled Sussex are laying yet or the Buff Orpington. This is my first time to have the Orpingtons of any kind, so I'm not really sure what to expect from them on laying. The Buff is getting pretty red, so she must be close. The lavender one still is too young yet to lay. I think the English type of Orpingtons are really beautiful, I would love to have some of the blues, maybe some time.

Well it's about time to go fix lunch now, my DH has to go in 30 minutes early today for a meeting, so I have to get off here & go get busy.

Thank you for this information. The brand is American Standard and like I said, it is about a year old. Supposed to be a really high efficiency unit, but I dunno....

I don't remember seeing anything that looks like what you described but I will check out that video and wait until DH is available to look at it with me. He is an engineer so generally better at seeing stuff like that than me
