Constipated Rooster!! (Cured)

Make sure that you have multiple water bowls or pans around the coop, run, and yard. Dehydration is a big cause of constipation. What do you feed?
I feed them normal chicken feed along with almost everything ranging from rice, vegetables and fruits (Mostly more than the feed). I realized that the water feeder may have been too small for the rooster, I already got a way bigger one and saw the mans drinking from the big one rather easily multiple times today after it got better :).

Yes, rice is a cure for diarrhea. Too much can constipate. You can add a little water to a small amount of your chicken feed to make a mash that is good for them.
Ohh okay, I'll do that from now on. Should I try feeding them something else in their diet to replace the rice?

Back to the waterer for a second. It sounds like you've solved that problem, which is good.

I got all my chickens trained to a horizontal nipple waterer, or so I thought. My roo couldn't figure it out, I guess. I saw him trying to bite the whole nipple, but I thought he was getting water because he pecked at it too. The next day, he was lethargic, and I swear his back end looked skinnier. It dawned on me he was dehydrated. I put out the open waterer, and he went over and tanked up right then.

Roosters being dumb moment!! it's good to hear that the dude's going fine now though. Ours literally just started fighting with the hens over food which is granted because he did not eat anything other than coconut oil during that period of 1 day other than maybe some pecks at leftover food

Recently (1-2 days) my 14-16 week rooster has stopped crowing and chasing after the hens. He keeps trying to poop but nothing comes out, sometimes just a little, there was a lot of poop around his vent area. He was eating earlier today but didn't even come close to food at noon, I tried forcing him to drink water because the last time I saw him drink water was several days ago (Maybe he was drinking when I wasn't there?) but he didn't open his beak at all. I did feed him a tiny bit of coconut oil and then he ate some more by himself and then drank water afterwards which did help because I saw him poop a lot after that, but it still wasn't normal, small pieces like before. I noticed him trying to defecate after that as well. What should I do? Should I keep feeding him coconut oil? I don't have much access to medicines. All of my other 4 hens are perfectly fine, just this poor guy.
Your post is very late for me .one of my rooster died in October 2021 he was also not pooping freely 😞😞😞
