Construction sand question - it looks like sugar!

I use sand as the bottom layer in my brooder, with shavings on top. Worked fine until I put ducks in there. But then, I think ducks will pretty much trash ANY set up given a 5 gallon waterer and an hour or so.

Umm, why not playsand? I have it in the coop and its great.


I've read to go for as course of sand as you can find because the fine particles (in playground sand) can be inhaled by the chickens and can lead to breathing problems.
