My guinea went broody and the next day 2 hyline brown chickens sat down with her. One has since moved to another nesting box but is still sitting. Is this normal? Will they stay broody for the length of the hatch? I thought hyline browns were not likelt to go broody and now suddenly I have 2?

I had a bantam hen go broody and then another bantam hen got broody the next day as well..... including my bantam roo, in the same box! I think it is. Right now I have a Cochin who was sitting and that same night a buff Cochin of mine decided to go broody.

I guess it’s a contagious hormone, I got 1 yr old to 3 year hens that suddenly went broody almost simultaneously (3 days apart) then couple weeks into it another 2 went broody. I’m hoping that’s it for now, since I got 24 eggs under 4 broodies.

I has another go broody this morning. What's craxy is this is not the coop I was planning on hatching chicks from. I have eggs in the incubator from both my other two coops and then this happens. I'm going to be overloaded I'm afraid. Lol. I can't wait to see how this all plays out.

I just have my fifth hen that went broody today, i deliberate wether to give her eggs to sit on but decided to kicked her out of the nest. I already have 24 eggs under 4 broodies and 9 eggs in an incubator, Chick galore and broody mommas everywhere didn’t plan on spring and summer this way lol.

I have a Year old EE that is on her 2nd round of broodiness. A silkie that’s just started sitting for the 2nd round that’ll turn a year late next month. And a 2yr old Buff Orp that is trying to sit. All 3 are in different coops.

YES! It started with a Phoenix hen, then a Marans, then my spitz, then a welsummer, my faverolle, a call duck, another marans, and now a third marans is trying to share the phoenix’s nest. Of course I didn’t write down when who started incubating what and they keep swapping anyway...it’s a mess.
