In terms of quality the silver pencilled are definitely the best, are you planning on breeding?

You are correct. I was actually more of saying that they both contain the Columbian gene. Light and Columbian are quite different in many waysJust as an FYI...When I read that, it made me think that in the past that I’d read that they were different, so I searched and found this link:
Columbian Rocks and Light Sussex
Yup, I am planning on breeding. In terms of quality the silver pencilled are definitely the best, are you planning on breeding?

It certainly would. You know you just opened a new door for me. Thanks for sharing the link. Now that I know Light isn't based the same as Columbian I won't be using Light Sussex for my Columbian Leghorn project. You saved me from a mess lolAhh, Gotcha... the fact that one was wheaten based just sort of stuck in my head... it kind of surprised me... gave me the idea at the time that it would be fairly easy to create Columbian patterned Faverolles

So I contacted Hunter and he said he can sell me a quad of Silvers as soon as I am ready
They are excellent birds. You'll love Partridge. Barred is very hard to maintain good barring, and blues are expensive and rare to find. One rooster costs over $150 CADNice! Good luck on the breeding program. I only have an elderly barred rock who has taken on the looks of a roo, huge spurs, saddle feathers and sickle feathers. Her very patient 'sister' is the same age as her but is a Cuckoo Marans.
I intend on breeding Plymouth Rocks of some kind this year, probably Partridge or Barred, but the Blues are gorgeous!
