I'd like to pose a correction: you can never go wrong by doing the right thing for you.
Come on guys. Neither way is right everywhere, every time, to everyone. Assuming they are is where the ignorance lies. Perhaps we have to learn to disagree on things, and accept that different lifestyles and people support and complement each other. Labelling any type of lifestyle as the right one is too much of a blanket statement, don't you reckon?
I also disagree with the idea of everyone producing food and goods for themselves. Why not just seal yourselves into a cave as well? I think society is a good thing. We can all help others in some way and be helped in return, and eveyone is the better for it. If someone is very good at making clothes and another is good at growing crops, would it be okay to let the second guy go around in rags and the first one starve? If everyone has to do everything for themselves, many people wouldn't be able to do anything well, as they'd have to put a lot of effort in providing for other aspects of their life which they don't find so easy, and as a consequence they'd neglect their talents and skills, which would go to waste.
