What are your reasons for wanting them? Is it for food, show, or just as pets? I would have to say if one of my children came to me and asked for pigeons I would ask them what is their reason for wanting them and then I would go down the pros and cons with them on having them for the reasons they told me they wanted them. On our little farm right now at least the saying goes everything has to have a purpose. Our Dogs protect the flock of chickens and other animals we have, Our chickens and quail provide eggs, chicks (for income) and meat for us to eat so they are worth the time it takes to clean up after them. Pigeons have their uses but understanding the market for them is very convincing. Around us most people raise them for racing or meat.
