Just remember you have to do something with all those roosters you hatch out. People want hens generally. You have to willing to butcher males or else you will be quickly overwhelmed with them all. That's the main reason I don't hatch often.

We have a friend, he specialises in culling roosters, if not, Gumtree for free. that gets rid of them quickly. Besides, I only want to breed occasionally, I only plan to keep one or two roosters, and I will hatch out chicks whenever there is a broody. I will mainly sell fertile eggs, they go quickly here.

Well, you posted in the right forum !
The 'local law and ordinances of the parents' is pretty much written in stone.
My parents imposed it on me and I imposed it on my kids...it's way of the world.
Good luck, I can't help you....us 'rents gotta stick together.

I am not sure if this is the right place to post this but anyway,
I absolutely love chooks. I have 8 little fluff butts, [technically 4, the others belong to some of my siblings] and I would like to breed. The breeds I like are GLWs and White Araucanas.
BUT, Dad hates my chickens. [To be fair, they are a little noisy and Houdinis but we are getting a pen, so that will fix that problem] How do I convince him to let me breed? Are there any better breeds? Or maybe pros or something to point out? How long should I wait after we get the fence to ask him? Our current ones are not recent, and I don't want a massive breeding facility, just a few hens and a rooster of each type, we are on 3/4 of an acre, and the chooks are very far from the house. I am willing to pay for everything, but what are some convincing pros about breeding chickens?

“Dad, I’m going to breed chickens and sell the eggs. Fertile eggs sell for x! If I sell y eggs, then I can pay for the feed and bedding for the chickens!”

Btw, that is only a convincing argument if you actually are responsible and reliably do regular chores.

Good luck.
