Convincing parents for a ferret?

If it's okay with your parents, maybe ask if you can babysit some of these animals you want and then put out a flyer at the pet shop offering pet sitting for people on vacation. I had an opportunity to pet sit a ferret when I was younger, as well as a descented skunk. Both were fun but I realized these animals are smelly and high maintenance pets. I also had a rat, which I loved dearly. It was much more pleasant and easy to care for and keep clean.
