Coolest Chicken Ever! Silkie Mutation? New Pics. 2 months old

Are you sure this is a Polish x Brahma? It has a single comb(which seems normal from what I can see) and is lacking any hint of crest(so far). Brahmas have pea, Polish has crest and duplex comb.. all which should show up in a cross in some form.

This chick also seems to be rumpless. Is he completely missing the tail- the bony structure and all?

Not sure what is up with the feathers. I have noticed that many Silkie crosses have much softer feathers than normal feathers. Have any silkies or silkie mutts in the flock? Try crossing it with a sibling or with a silky feathered bird.. if the chicks turn out half silky feathered and half like this, you know it's a carrier of the silky feathering gene and the fluffiness could be due to that..

another thought- any giant cochins or giant cochin crosses in flock? They have very long/soft feathering too.. and can get VERY big..

The pictures are not good enough I am sorry. But yes I am 100% sure it is a polish Brahma.

It has the polish nostrils. And what looks to be a polish/ pea comb. He also has about 3 feathers which are becoming into a crest.

He is not rumpless. You can see the tail feathers in the back. It is just fluffy like the the rest of him. He lacks normal feathers, instead he is covered with down.

Also I have not a single Silkie or Silkie cross, or any Cochins in my flock.

I'm glad everyone likes him so much!

Once I get home from vacation I will surely post some pictures.

Anyone have any guesses on why his feathers turned out like they did? Has anyone ever had a completely down chick like him? For pete sakes he is silkier than a silkie. lol I just have an urge to snuggle him all day. lol Poor guy. At least he doesn't fight much anymore when I carry him around and pet him obessively.

yes this thread must keep going. I know I would love to see weekly (or as much as you can) updates on him and his growth.

You may have to keep this one as a house chicken lol, so it doesn't get so dirty and stays super fluffy! (I just got the vision of this bird with all that white fluffy down, soaking wet from the rain and seeing that skinny little body under all that fluff LMAO

hehe yeah he didn't take to kindly to me lugging him around all the time at first.

But after hours of it, I think he gets the point now. Or at least puts up with it.

haha he is outside now in the rain and somehow manages to keep his white fluff.

I am leaving on vacation today. But I will add some pictures as soon as I get back!
