Coons and Chickens... Apparently can co-exist.

Around here that would be a really scarey situation as rabies is endemic in the coon population.

Wow wish the coons at my house were like that. The people should be worried though because raccoons can be quite vicious and just because they seem tame their still wild. They want to make sure that they have cakes because if the coons get too ocustumed to treats and they don't have them then they could attack. Having 40 raccoons in your house attacking you would not be a good situation. I've seen someone at a zoo get attacked be a coon and he had to go to the hospital. And that was just one coon!! Imagine what 40 could do. Still pretty cool story!

Wow...that's really bizarre. The part that makes sense is that most animals aren't going to kill unless they're hungry. Obviously these raccoons aren't hungry (although with enough Little Debbie snacks they may soon be diabetic

). I think most animals are going to take the easiest route to food, and a human feeding you is a pretty cake life (no pun intended).

MOST ANIMALS FOLLOW THE FOOD SOURCE WHEN A NATURAL FOOD RUNS OUT they simply find another around here we find them in dumpsters and trash cans after the last wild grapes and persimmons are gone I have a ladie that feeds possum coons and rats dog food in a trailer park a coupla a times a year the guy who owns the park gets me to "clean" them out I get him to tell me what kind of food she is using this is the best bait

I think it will only take one racoon to test a tasty chicken cake before they have a slaughter....

Her "coops" were converted dog loos, old hog pens with some chicken wire for doors, etc. Each group had their own sleeping area. They were very un-secure. And then the raccoons came up over that shed. They were 30 feet from the chickens. Didn't even look their way. It was very Dr Doolittle-ish.
